After releasing its initial list of player salaries in May, the MLS Players' Union recently
released an updated edition, which includes all of the new signings from an active summer transfer
period.
More recent Designated Player signings Robbie Keane, Frank Rost, Mustapha Jarju, Jeferson,
Milton Caraglio, Danny Koevermans and Torsten Frings are included in the bunch.
Sporting have sold striker Yannick Djalo to France's Nice on the last day of transfers for $4.5
million euros. The 25 year old striker had appeared in 98 games for Sporting, scoring 23 goals.
Djalo deal is said to still have to be approved by FIFA as the Sporting and Nice agreement came
right at the deadline, so Djalo fans may need to wait it out to see where the player ends up.
When Andy Carroll left Newcastle United back in January the fans were told that all of the £35
million would be invested in players. Here are the players we've signed since then:

- Silvain Marveaux (Free transfer)
- Mehdi Abeid (Free transfer)
- Davide Santon (Undisclosed thought to be about £5 million)
- Gabriel Obertan (£3 million)
- Rob Elliot (Thought to be around £250k)
In that same time period, we have let go or sold the following players:
- Sol Campbell (Free)
- Sheki Kuqi (Free)
- Kevin Nolan (£4.
Fred Dreier was nice enough to quote me in the Sports Business Journal a couple weeks ago in
regards to the latest viewer stats for MLSsoccer.com, which guarantees a link back. First, the MLS
spin:
For the month of July, which is traditionally the busiest month for MLSsoccer.com, the
website recorded just over 3 million unique visitors, its highest total ever and a 30 percent jump
from July 2010.
While dredging up more data points for yesterday's post on MLSsoccer.com's latest round of web
stats, I came across this:
What you see is a Quantcast chart for the "MLS ad network," with stats from around May 2009 to
present. Given the drop in traffic that happened around the launch of MLSsoccer.
Our Premier League season gets back underway this weekend against Wolverhampton Wanderers and
I've had a chat with the Wolves blogger Thomas Baugh, of the aptly-named Wolves Blog, who thinks
that Saturday's game could have a pleasing result for any Spurs fan.
Wolves have hit the ground running this season and are so far unbeaten.

AFC Bournemouth supporters staged an impromptu 'protest' after the final whistle of their 3-0
home defeat to Chesterfield on Saturday, which basically involved a mass haranguing of owner Eddie
Mitchell for his decision to flog off seven of the players that saw the Cherries reach the League
One play-offs last season after being promoted from League Two the season prior.
The Major League Soccer Players' Union has released the latest batch of player salary numbers.
The numbers are offered both by team and player and show the wide range of salaries in the league.
This latest release is most interesting because it reveals the wages of some of the league's most
recent signings.
As question's are asked over the alleged £2.5 million in agent's fees involved in Joey Barton's
transfer to Queen's Park Rangers, Newcastle United's Managing Director, Derek Llambias, washed his
hands of the affair, insisting that he is "more than happy" for Newcastle United to be probed by
the FA over the deal.

Whenever the Major League Soccer Players Union releases players' salary numbers, it's usually
the rare opportunity to step back and see who's worth their salary and who's not. So that's exactly
what we're going to do here, with a look at each Union player's salary and evaluation of whether
they're worth it or not.
Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 Liverpool. Yes, that's four, nil.
Isn't it great that all the limelight is surrounding the Manchester clubs and Arsenal? We can get
on with our business of chalking up the wins. That's two wins on the bounce, but more importantly,
two clean sheets.
Modric is looking like he's rekindled his interest, whilst Adebayor is simply superb.
It's Friday, and Crackovia is back! For those of you who just joined us,
Crackovia is an award-winning Catalan skitshow from Barcelona that parodies issues
centred on football. They've created a monster out of this, and we met their fantastic cast earlier
this year, so go check it out!
More then a week ago, Fox tried something new and they were rewarded for it. After showing the
Manchester United vs. Chelsea game live on FSC, the network decided to show the game on their
regular Fox stations after the local NFL was over.
In Philly it was during the 1 p.m., while in other cities it was the 4 p.
When we talk about the best European players in the NBA, one player we always forget to mention
is Kobe Bryant. While many people don't consider European, his basketball game is certainly
European. He learned the game in Italy when his father played basketball overseas.
Kobe, who is in talks with the Italian team Virtus Bologna to play their during the NBA lockout,
admitted his European roots when talking to an Italian newspaper.
