This Saturday 4th of July ***Free beer at the Ultras Tailgate 6 pm, free parking, Fireworks, naked
women! (OK, no naked women) But it will be Miami FC vs Puerto Rico Islanders at FIU stadium 8
pm***
Miami FC returns home to play the now traditional Fourth of July game against the first place
Puerto Rico Islanders.
Miami FC played to a 0-0 tie with the Puerto Rico Islanders on the 4th of July. The Blues dominated
most of the match but was unable to capitalize their many chances and had to settle for the draw.
Miami saw what seemed to be a legitimate goal called back after a clean header by Leo Inacio. For
more on the game go to the Miami Herald or the Miami Ultras site.
I blame the holiday weekend for getting me off to a late start here this week. Plus throw in the
fact that I am a homeowner now all the trips to Home Depot and places like that are easily killing
off any spare second over the weekend. Oh well, no time to bitch and moan about that but time to
get down to business once again this week.
For all of you here in the Staets, I hope everyone has a safe and fun 4th of July weekend. Not sure
how much I'll be blogging over the weekend, but rest assured if something ridiculous happens, I'll
be here...but before I go...
So Michael Owen is now at Manchester United...probably not a bad place for him to go.
A 2-1 victory for FC Dallas on the 4th of July over the worst team in the MLS...fortunately you get
three points no matter how bad the opposition is. Two comments complaining that Kenny Cooper didn't
play for the USMNT against Grenada...further proof most FCD fans have no clue that Kenny Cooper
isn't really that good and doesn't even deserve to ride the bench for the Nats.
I am ashamed to admit, I opted not to watch the USMNT in the Gold Cup and instead chose to enjoy a
beautiful Seattle day on my 4th of July.
I don't think there's much to take from the young boys' 4-0 win against Grenada. But I've embedded
the highlights below.
And here are the results thus far:

Mexico 2-0 Nicaragua
Guadeloupe 2-1 Panama

A closeup of my cousin's new baby daughter Abigail. One thing Rapids fans and Sounders fans can
agree on is that NY is crap
Red Bull New York Red Bulls are in town tomorrow to take on a Rapids side that needs to right
itself. The game is at 7:30 tomorrow night at the Dick, to be followed by the rescheduled fireworks
for the 4th of July.
The possibilities for for the Wizards 2010 home schedule are starting to come into view. Earlier
this week, the T-Bones came out with their schedule for the 2010 season, meaning we know what dates
the Wizards won't be at home due to baseball being played at CAB. We also know that the Wizards
won't be playing any games at all from June 10th through June 25th due to the announcement that the
league will take off during the group stages of the World Cup this coming summer.
Mr. Wilco, America's Favorite Furry Footy Prognosticator, is back with his predictions for Week 16
of the MLS Season. Mr. Wilco would like to wish everyone a safe and fun 4th of July Weekend and
reminds you to not use fireworks to terrorize neighborhood cats.

If you're planning on celebrating your 4th of July with us tomorrow, the weather looks like it's
going to be outstanding. Make sure to stay afterward for the official fireworks display of Kansas
City, Kansas and free ice cream for the children 12 and under. We'll see you tomorrow. Still need
tickets?
On this fine 4th of July, The Sun is pulling out all the sensational stops. This time, the
quintessential outlet for integrity and honest reporting reckons Ashley Cole has snubbed a new,
improved contract at Chelsea. And, who else, but Real Madrid are lurking in the shadows, staring at
the best left-back in the world with one of those real perverted gazes you girlfriend usually
gets outside a club.
We here at USL News hope you've had a fun and safe 4th of July Weekend. We have taken a little
break over the weekend but we will return tomorrow with updates and news from the weekend's USL
action.
On the 4th of July, the US MNT absolutely dominated Grenada to kick off the Gold Cup in
thrilling style (4-0). Although the Yanks played their JV side (youngsters like Adu, Rogers,
Holden, etc.), they still overwhelmed their opponents, who likely will have a very long flight home
to their island nation after being absolutely outplayed and embarassed.
We should have seen this coming. Sending out a team with a British coach, assistant coach, and
starting right winger was just asking for trouble on the 4th of July. Chicago responded in defense
of America, and much like Washington and the Continental Army 230+ years ago, they sent the British
packing.
Had to repost because the link to the episode was broken.
At just over 25 minutes, this is one of the shortest episodes I've ever done. I didn't feel the
need to come up with three paragraphs worth of material about every song, but instead decided to
let it flow a little more naturally. I think it works pretty good.
This afternoon Matt tweeted a rumor that Jay Bennett, the multi-instrumentalist best known for
his work in Wilco, died suddenly. Later, while I was on my way out, he had confirmed the horrible
news. Bennett had recently recorded a solo album called Whatever Happened, I Apologize (a lyric
from the X classic, 4th of July) that can be downloaded for free here.
Yup, if you haven't guessed it by now we are closed for the holiday weekend.
Have a happy and safe 4th of July everyone!

CONCACAF Gold Cup play tonight vs. Grenada.
Most of the U.S. team's top stars are sitting this tournament out, leaving the event as an
opportunity for young players to prove they belong, and veterans a chance to show they still have
what it takes to contribute to the first team.
