The u-turn that was hinted at yesterday looks to be almost complete as reports claim that
Everton have accepted an offer from Spurs for their midfielder Steven Pienaar. Last week, Chelsea
tabled a bid of £3m which was accepted by the Toffees and it would now appear that Tottenham, who
had initially made an offer that fell short of Chelsea's bid, have matched the asking price.
Part 2 of the series focuses on Norwegian striker, Jan Åge Fjørtoft...
Jan Åge Fjørtoft became a bit of a cult hero during his time in the Premier League playing for
Swindon Town in the 93/94 season. His fly by celebration became infamous throughout the league.
Could the exit door have the name of Jermaine Jenas written on it by the end of the transfer
window?
While many have expected a mini exodus of Spurs' midfielders this month, JJ wasn't reckoned to
be one of them, but with Aston Villa suddenly finding the money they denied Martin O'Neill, they
have supposedly asked Tottenham to ‘name their price'.
Everton's 28 year old South African Steven Pienaar is the latest name being linked with Chelsea.
This article in the DAILY MAIL states that Pienaar is out of contract in the Summer, with Spurs
longtime admirers of the player but Carlo could tempt David Moyes to cash in on him this month by
making a move for approx £3m.
In the absence of any confirmed transfer news, speculation continues to dominate the tabloids
and online rumour mills.
One of the names to be linked with a move to Spurs this month is Mark Van Bommel who was
apparently been told by Bayern Munich that he can leave the club. The player is out of contract
this summer and at 34, Bayern could be looking to cash in now for a fee in the region of £3m.
UPDATE: According to Tottenham's official website, Tottenham
have completed the signing of Steven Pienaar. Pienaar signed a
four-and-a-half year deal with the club.
January 17th, 2011: According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton
have given Tottenham permission to speak with Pienaar as they
have now agreed upon a transfer fee.
Hello everyone, sorry have had some problems with my pc which explains the lack of blog posts over
the weekend. My take on the 2-0 win over Blackburn is to follow soon but one story has grabbed my
attention today after I posted on here on Friday that to me things behind the scenes do not seem
right at Chelsea.

Looks like Steven Pienaar is on his way to Tottenham. Or Chelsea. Either way, he's on his way to
the English capital. This from Everton's official website:
"Everton can confirm they have agreed terms with Tottenham over the possible transfer of Steven
Pienaar.
Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar has snubbed Chelsea for a move to Tottenham
for a fee believed to be £3m.
Pienaar also revealed on his Twitter page he will wear the number 40 jersey for Spurs.
The transfer window is a funny ol' thing at the best of times, but the January version is
stranger still. Personally I'd be happy to see it removed completely and either have no windows or
just the summer one. Anyway, I digress. Yesterday we finally captured the signing of Steven Pienaar
subject to a work permit on a 4 and a ½ year deal.
After an excellent round of will-he-won't-he, it appears that Middlesbrough and Bolton have
finally agreed on the details, and now the contract is just waiting on personal terms. If you've
been under a rock this transfer window, the player in question in David Wheater, a 6′5″ central
defender and dancing queen.
The transfer window finally kick started this week Aston Villa made sure it wouldn't be a dull
one, but what does the less glamorised move of David Wheater from Boro to Bolton mean for the
next 11 days of the market? Having signed for an initial £2.3m, Wheater steps into a defence that
is predominantly English, with Zat Knight and Gary Cahill established at Trotters rear, in front of
the eternally youthful Jaaskelainen.
Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Chelsea, says he was not interested in signing Steven Pienaar.
Someone at his club was, though, because Everton announced last week that they had agreed terms
with Chelsea for the player.
Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham Hotspur manager, eventually got the deal over the line for his club,
but not before casting a quizzical eye on the transfer machinations at Stamford Bridge.
I was planning on leaving this until after the transfer window had shut but to be honest I'm
sick and tired of reading, writing and talking about what stadium we might be playing in come 2016
or whatever date it ends up being. I'm sure I'm not the only one. It's important of course but the
longer it goes on and the more talk there is the closer I feel like I support a company and not a
football club.

In what may be seen as slightly surprising news, the FA Premier League fined Blackpool £25,000
for fielding an under-strength side. The slight surprise was that, in fining the Seasiders, the
punishment was harsher than the suspended fine handed down to Wolverhampton Wanderers in similar
circumstances last season.
News today in The Sun that Tottenham have made direct contact with Newcastle owner Mike Ashley, in
an attempt to buy Newcatsle's young 22 year-old local striker Andy Carroll. Andy Carroll - Spurs
