Real Madrid are going on a massive spending spree, first Kaka, now Ronaldo and there will be one more "galactico" before Perez starts to look at squad players. Real have borrowed money from the banks (I do not hear any cries of foul play from Platini over the debt at Real Madrid), but his is not a bottomless pit and sooner or later they will have to listen to offers for their players.

Newspaper and website talk is heating up over the news that Arsenal and not Liverpool could be the destination of Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry. Barry was subject of massive speculation last summer, but Liverpool were not prepared to pay £18 million for the England midfielder.

Aston Villa will reluctantly let Barry leave after they reached a gentleman's agreement last summer whereby if Villa failed to qualify for the Champions League, they would listen to offers and reduce their asking price.

Yes, according to this article here.
It is well known that Dynamo have his MLS rights, and I strongly believe that he fits in here far better than Dominic Oduro (or possibly even Cam Weaver). So I am optimistic. Though I find it interesting to note that this SI and Goal.com writer Shane Evans does not speculate on his landing spot.

Yes, that's right. Another J. Smith. Scottish winger Jamie Smith, currently at Aberdeen, is being linked to us by the Evening Express, as well as by this article from the Telegraph.
I've never seen Smith play, but from what I can gather, he's a short guy, and he likes to take on defenders and has a very direct approach to his play.

One game, everything to play for. When tonight's World Cup playoff between Bahrain and New Zealand (2am, FSC) kicks off, the winner claims a spot in South Africa, while the loser faces the prospect of missing the tournament once again.

Neither side is a prominent soccer nation, yet the underlying feeling is that the winning nation's program would receive a much-needed shot in the arm.

AZ Alkmaar inaugurated their new DSB stadium on August 4, 2006 with a 0-3 loss to the Gunners. Gilberto Silva, Emmanuel Adebayor and RVP scored goals. You can watch the goals >>1-0, 2-0, 3-0.

For the record: AZ were undefeated in all 32 of their home matches in European competitions, a sequence which ran from 1977 until 20 December 2007, when they finally lost to Everton of England, by a score of 2-3.
