Aston Villa have announced massive losses of almost £54 million for the year ended 31 May 2011
and the club confirmed the overall group loss for the year has increased to £53.9m from
£37.6m.
That figure includes the money spent to bring Darren Bent to the club in January last year, but
does not factor in the sales of Ashley Young to Manchester United and Stewart Downing to Liverpool
which went through last June.
After the news that Kevin de Bruyne is set to sign for Chelsea before the transfer window closes
and then immediately loaned back to Genk for the remainder of the season, today is about some

With the departure of Cesc and Nasri, no matter what you think of the players, it's obvious that
our goals from the midfield area have reduced. Whether this be down to the injury of Wilshire, or
the lack of width provided by the full backs, I don't know. But, with Arshavin looking increasingly
on his way out, what has become clear is that Arsenal are in need of an attacking midfielder/wide
player who can create and score goals in equal measure.

next six months with a possible permanent deal at the end of the season was not attractive to City,
who are looking to get rid of Tevez permanently.

seasons back still haunts me but we must travel with confidence although they did win last week so
will be about as buoyant aas they could be when the face us. Great.

Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has signed a new contract to stay in the role,
meaning that he will coach the team throughout the 2014 World Cup qualification campaign. Those

play-off victory over Estonia earlier this month of course and the Italian signing a new deal is a
testament to the job he has done.
The one area where there appear to be no Spurs' vacancies at present is in midfield although
that fact didn't stop Harry dipping into the transfer market and picking up Steven Pienaar last
January.

What are the odds Torres doesn't celebrate if he scores against Liverpool? Derek
McGovern's Bets of the Day
Fernando Torres claims he is in debt to the Chelsea fans and that's no surprise – he's from
Spain. Everyone's in debt there, as they are here in Britain. Torres is grateful that the Blues
fans have backed him ever since Chelsea paid £50million – £25m per left foot – for him last
January and promised that, though his form has deserted him, he would never give up.
