The 2022 FIFA World Cup might just be played in the winter after all.
After a series of high-profile soccer personalities raised the possibility of scheduling the
event in the winter to avoid the high temperatures of a Qatari summer, FIFA president Sepp Blatter
offered a surprisingly revealing take on the matter, which will be discussed at FIFA's executive
committee meeting in March.
The Middle Eastern country of Qatar is still on a high following its successful bid to host the
2022 FIFA World Cup. This month the oil rich country has the opportunity to showcase itself to the
world and prove that its victory was justified when it hosts the 15th edition of the AFC Asian Cup,
the first time it has held this event since 1988.
