While Danny Califf and Peter Nowak told reporters that they had put the "miscommunication" flap
behind them at a meeting earlier in the week, Nowak indicated at Wednesday's press conference that
Califf's status for Saturday's game in Chicago was still uncertain.

This day in history, February 28, 2008: MLS announces Philadelphia will join the league as its
16th franchise in the 2010 season. (Not sure if this counts as a birthday, but it makes for a nice
headline. More importantly, it's just a great day to remember.
It has been a strange few weeks for Korean football and the fact that the final round of
qualification for the 2014 World Cup is about to start has almost been forgotten. National team
head coach Choi Kang-hee has been one of the most successful coaches in Korea and Asia over the
last few years but increasingly in recent weeks he has been looking stressed.

Sky Sports reports that Bolton manager Owen Coyle "claims no decision has been taken as yet
regarding a permanent deal" for Sebastien Le Toux.
Jonathan Tannenwald tweets, "A Union source says the team 'would not use Tim Ream as a
benchmark' in any negotiations over Le Toux regarding transfer fee.

Like it or not, everyone with any knowledge of the Union going into Saturday's game against
Vancouver will be watching to see how the fans at PPL Park react to the return of Sebastien Le
Toux. The Inquirer's Marc Narducci reports that Peter Nowak says, "I hope and believe that the fans
will support and stand behind our team and help us to win the game because we need them more than
anything right now.

Union v Schalke friendly
At Tuesday's press conference, Schalke manager Huub Stevens said, "We're here with a strong
team, the strongest team we can have right now, guys like Raul, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Jermaine
Jones. If they feel good enough they'll play.
US Open Cup
Reading United won its first US Open Cup match in five tries on Tuesday night, defeating New
York Greek American Atlas, 2–1.
A rebounding shot from Ryan Finley found Pedro Ribeiro to put Reading on the board in the 37th
minute. Finley would give Reading the 2–0 in the 55th minute when a foul from former Philadelphia
Union defender Christian Arrieta resulted in a free kick delivery from Steven Neumann.
