Arteaga: Among the Successful TrialistsThe New York Red Bulls are expected to make their
final series of squad cuts and signings this week, leading up to their March 11 kickoff against FC
Dallas, the first MLS game to be shown on the newly-branded NBC Sports Network (formerly Versus).
Rumors on Facebook and Twitter indicate that among the RBNY trialists putting pen to paper will be
former FC New York standout Jhonny Arteaga, forward Jose Angulo and central defender Tyler Ruthven,
who spent last season with Atlanta Silverbacks.
Richards' Speed Gave L.A. a Few HeadachesThe New York Red Bulls always seem to play a little
better against the Los Angeles Galaxy than they do against the rest of the league, even when there
isn't much on the line. Wednesday evening was no exception. Bolstered by the strongest lineup Hans
Backe has yet fielded in the Desert Diamond Cup, RBNY got a pair of nicely worked goals by Kenny
Cooper and Thierry Henry either side of halftime and then held on for a 2-1 victory over a Galaxy
team that was without several regulars, including Landon Donovan, Robbie Keane and Edson Buddle.
Come On Thierry - Score Us a Goal or Two!Sorry, folks! It's been an unusually long time
between posts for us, but sometimes life just has a nasty habit of getting in the way. What's been
happening in Red Bull Land while we've gone quiet? Not a hell of a lot, to be honest. RBNY dropped
their second match of the preseason Desert Diamond Cup to New England Revolution by a score of 2-0,
but because of the Reto Del Sol match just days earlier, it was almost entirely a reserve and
trialist team that Hans Backe selected against the Revs.
Vuolo: Solid Between the PipesThe Red Bulls got the Arizona leg of their 2012 preseason
underway on Wednesday night, dropping a 0-1 decision to Real Salt Lake in their first match of the
Desert Diamond Cup. With the "Reto Del Sol" match against UNAM Pumas scheduled for Thursday,
against RSL Hans Backe was forced to field a squad composed of reserve players and trialists.
Coop Didn't Take Long to Get His FirstThe New York Red Bulls prevailed in the first of their
2012 preseason friendly matches, defeating FC Dallas 2-0, thanks to a first half goal by Kenny
Cooper and a late penalty from Corey Hertzog. Despite Dallas striking the woodwork three times,
RBNY goalkeepers Ryan Meara and Jeremy Vuolo combined to keep a clean sheet.
When the 2012 preseason opened for the New York Red Bulls, there were a lot of questions that had
to be answered. No one knew the club's plans after a season that looked disjointed and at times
looked disgraceful – ...

Ever since Amado Guevara was shown the door, I've been clamoring for an actual #10 Creative
Midfielder for our team - to absolutely no avail. That genius Bruce Arena (besides destroying our
pretty good backline in 2007) saddled us with the perenially injured Claudio Reyna, who (as a
defensive midfielder) was absolutely not the creative player we needed.
The Hard Work Starts NowThe Red Bulls preseason got underway in earnest today at Montclair
State University, as an expanded group of players reported to camp, including a massive 12-13
trialists. The size of the group is hardly surprising, considering the number of reserve and fringe
players the club has shed since November.
