Southend will almost certainly host Britain's diving team in the run up to the London 2012 Olympics.
Garon Park has been chosen as the team's preferred venue - with the borough council receiving a letter of intent over the weekend from 'British Swimming'.
They want the country's diving hopefuls, including teenage star Tom Daley, to use £10m facility at Garon Park, as an Olympic training base.
