Congratulations to PSP photographer Nicolae Stoian! Nicolae is one of eight photographers
selected by Photographers for Hope to photograph the 2010 Homeless World Cup, taking place in Rio
de Janeiro in September. The project is being organized in conjunction with United Nations Office
on Sport for Development and Peace and the Brazilian branch of the Sport for Social Change
Network.
Logo d'oh Given that the logo for the London 2012 Olympics looks like Lisa Simpson carrying out
illegal and immoral activities with her brother, it is very difficult for anyone British to take
the high ground on this. But you do have to wonder what the organisers for Brazil 2014 were
thinking about when they gave [.
Kristine Lilly is often referred to as the USA's Iron Woman, and for a good reason. Not only has
she played in 342 matches for the USA (the most capped player on the world) and scored 129 goals in
her national team career, but she has played on both professional leagues that have existed in the
US and she has done it all over the course of more than 20 years (her first international
appearance was in August 3, 1987).

Sergio Busquets has been given permission by his club to play for Spain's U21s
in the Euro 2011 U21 championship next summer. He's 22 now but does qualify for the team. The
current La Liga season ends on 25 May 2011, with Euro 2011 taking place from 11-25 June.
The US Women play Costa Rica for the 3rd place match and must win that game in order to play Italy,
in order to qualify for the 2011 World Cup AND for the 2012 Olympics. (USWNT match report). Carli

enjoyed lots of support from the home crowd (in Cancun).
BREAKING NEWS
Southend will almost certainly host Britain's diving team in the run up to the London 2012
Olympics.
Garon Park has been chosen as the team's preferred venue - with the borough council receiving a
letter of intent over the weekend from 'British Swimming'.
They want the country's diving hopefuls, including teenage star Tom Daley, to use £10m facility at
Garon Park, as an Olympic training base.
If you're wondering what's going on behind the scenes to prepare Hadleigh and surrounding areas for
the mountain biking event at the 2012 Olympics, then there's a chance to quiz organisers in the
coming weeks.
The site - at Hadleigh Farm - was chosen for the event back in 2008. After some wrangling with the
owners of the land - the Salvation Army - plans were finally agreed, but there has been little to
see in terms of physical progress, at the site itself.

Global football icon David Beckham has delivered the 1,752-page bid book which he hopes
will persuade Fifa to award England the 2018 World Cup.
After the fiasco of the 2012 Olympics bid, France has just won the right to organise the Euro in
2016. It was a close contest with Turkey, France only winning 7 votes to 6 in the 2nd round with
Italy loosing out in the 1st round. I think the following factors explain the choice of France:
- An experienced manager, Jacques Lambert, who had already been involved with the 1992 Winter
Olympics in Albertville and even more so with the 1998 World Cup in France.
Ever since London won the bid for the 2012 Olympics, opening ceremonies have become of
significant importance to us Brits, even more so after Beijing's breathtaking opening to the 2008
games. We are in the middle of a recession, all we can currently provide is Fatima Whitbread and
Daley Thompson standing on top of an open top London Bus eagerly waving a solitary sparkler.
Let's stop this England failure from happening again
As another World Cup comes and goes, it's another disappointment for the ever passionate and
loyal England fans.
We've heard the excuses from the FA and Fabio Capello. "The players were tired" the manager
said. Funny that, because against Germany, England players ran further on average than their
opposition who still managed to rattle four goals past us.
Yeah, you read right. Here we go again. Wonder what Galaxy Coach Bruce Arena is thinking?:
LONDON (AP) -- David Beckham wants to play for Britain at the London 2012 Olympics, but
doesn't expect to play for a European club again.
The 35-year-old midfielder has put himself through a grueling schedule in recent years playing
for AC Milan during the Los Angeles Galaxy offseason, but that took its toll as an injury ruled him
out of the World Cup.
A lot has been happening around the soccer world lately, from David Beckham trade rumors to
Landon Donovan starring in a Mexican commercial (and its funny too!) So let's start off this
edition of the Roundup with the Union.

Tottenham Hotspur are allegedly working on a plan to move from White Hart Lane to the Olympic
Stadium after the 2012 Olympics. This move arrives after local police and heritage groups in
Tottenham, North London, rejected proposals by Tottenham Hotspur football club to develop a new
stadium next to their current one on White Hart Lane.
The next big hurdle for the U.S. WNT is qualifying for the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup. If all goes
well in Mexico in October and November, the USA will participate in its sixth Women's World Cup
tournament next summer in Germany and then a year after that, the 2012 Olympics will commence in
London, England (for which the USA will have to qualify as well).
Adidas has enlisted the help of Steven Gerrard to inspire teenagers to participate in sport and
promote its sponsorship of the London 2012 Games.
One Italian national team played a match yesterday, and the results were quite dispiriting.
With a seemingly safe 2-0 aggregate lead over Belarus, the Italian U-21 club found a way to lose
3-1 in the return match and be eliminated from the UEFA U-21 championship. The practical result
is that the club not only will not have a chance at another U-21 championship, but has been
eliminated from the 2012 Olympics.
With the international break over, we can now focus back to this interesting title race in the
works called Serie A. While the Azzurri have had a relatively disappointing international break
with their 0-0 draw against Northern Ireland, their match against Serbia cancelled, and the fact
that they won't be part of the 2012 olympics, the Serie A will hopefully lift any Italy fan's
spirit.
The draw for South American qualifying was held in Peru on Monday that will send four teams to
the FIFA U-20 World Cup .... here are the results:
Group A
Chile
Uruguay
Peru
Venezuela
Argentina
Group B
Ecuador
Paraguay
Colombia
Bolivia
Brazil
As if that weren't enough, the tournament - which will take place between Jan.

Tottenham gaffer Harry Redknapp has admitted he would be interested in taking charge of the
Great Britain football team at the 2012 Olympics in London.
Reports suggest Arry is the favourite to manage what would be an English-only side (no Gareth
Bale or Aaron Ramsey, alas).
