place from July 25-Aug. 9 at six venues throughout Great Britain.
There won't be a lot of mystery for the USA in group play at the Olympics (although truth be told,
the North Koreans are always a bit mysterious) as three first round opponents for the Americans are
all teams they met during the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup.

The CONCACAF region will be represented by Mexico and Honduras at the 2012 London Olympics as
the qualifiers drew to a close on Monday with Mexico beating Los Catrachos with a late Miguel Ponce
strike in the finals.
The glaring omission: The USA.
D.C., Maryland, and Virginia fans of the U.S. Women's National Team will have a chance to catch the
team in action at the somewhat nearby PPL Park in Pennsylvania. The two and a half hour drive from
D.C.is well worth the trip to see the USWNT. The women are returning from Japan where a goal from
Alex Morgan gave them a 1-1 draw against the defending Women's World Cup Champions.

Adidas have just officially launched 'The Albert', i.e, the official matchball to be used at the
2012 London Olympics and it's...erm...different...
Hmmm. It instantly brings to mind the decor in the diner they used to frequent in 'Saved By The
Bell'.
At Thursday night's Supporters' Summit, New England Revolution President Brian Bilello mentioned
the team was working on a doubleheader for Revs' home opener on March 24th.
It now appears, according to multiple reports, that the Canadian Women's National Team and the
Brazilian Women's National Team will face off on that same date at Gillette Stadium in a friendly
match to prepare for the 2012 London Olympics, presumably as the second game in that Gillette
Stadium doubleheader .

The English FA will meet with national team manager Fabio Capello after rising tensions over the
dismissal of John Terry as captain threatens to fracture an already tenuous relationship between
the two sides.
Capello has been very outspoken in his disagreement with the FA's decision to strip Terry of the
captain's armband after the defender's racism trial was delayed until July.

Despite both sides having punched their tickets to the 2012 London Olympics, bragging rights and
a No. 1 seed were on the line when the United States Women clashed with Canada last night.
Thanks to the continued brilliance of Abby Wambach and young gun Alex Morgan, the United States
trotted out a 4-0 victory to cap off what has largely been a pedestrian Olympic Qualifying.
The U.S. Women's National Team faced a tougher test than expected, but ultimately the Americans
proved too tough for underdog Costa Rica and eventually punched their ticket to the Summer
Olympics.
A first-half goal by Tobin Heath gave the U.S. women the lead and despite a courageous fight
from the Costa Ricans, the United States held that one-goal lead before Carli Lloyd blasted home a
long-range blast in the second half to give the Americans a 2-0 victory in the CONCACAF Olympic
Qualifying semifinals in Vancouver.
The US and Canada are moving on to the 2012 London Olympics. Behind another strong shutout
performance by the US. Heath, Lloyd and Morgan all score for the US against Costa Rica. The US
carry a 34 goals for, 0 goals against into the final Sunday night in Vancouver.Video: Universal

Arsene Wenger has ratified Arsenal's summer tour of Nigeria. The under-fire Gunners manager gave
his blessing to the ground-breaking trip and pen was put to paper at the Emirates on Sunday as the
club hosted a delegation from the African organisers of the tour.
Arsenal officials met Nigeria Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the planned visit which will
be the club's first ever visit to Africa.
The U.S. team once again practiced indoors at BC Place (with the weather so far in Vancouver, trust
us when we say outdoors would not be too much fun), this time in preparation for its final Group B
match vs. Mexico. The CONCACAF neighbors will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m. PT. Fans can
watch the game live on Universal Sports Network, Universalsports.
Here are the highlights of the USA vs Dominican Republic CONCACAF Olympics match played in
Vancouver, BC. Abby Wambach and Co., made mincemeat of 88th seeded Dominican Republic. Amy
Rodriguez scored five, Heather O' Reilly poured in another three as the US Women scored a record 14
goals to nil.

The U.S. WNT has arrived in Arizona and had its first training on Monday evening. It was a short
practice as the players were just off planes and as night fell in the chilly desert of Scottsdale,
the U.S. team took its first (sort of) offical step towards the 2012 London Olympics.
The squad looked refershed and sharp despite the long break with the World Cup in the rearview and
everyone refocused on Olympic qualifying in January.
Football politics is likely to be amongst the headlines over the next few months following
Stuart Pearce's appointment as manager of the Team GB football team for the 2012 London Olympics.
It is the first time since the Rome Olympics of 1960 that a team representing GB will be
participate.
U.S. Soccer has picked Caleb Porter to coach the under-23 men's national team that will try to
qualify for the 2012 London Olympics.
Porter currently is head coach at college powerhouse Akron, and will continue in that role while
coaching the U.S. team.
"I am honored and feel extremely privileged to be given this once in a lifetime opportunity,"
Porter said.
Theyab Awana one of the UAE's brightest stars died on Sunday, tragically killed in a car
accident. He was just 21. Awana was returning from a training camp held at Al Ain ahead of the
team's qualifier with South Korea on October 11 when his car struck a road repair lorry. Awana
passed away in the hospital.
The leader of the U.S. Womens team, Abby Wambach has continued her dominant play (at the age of 31)
on the field during a recent "Celebration Series" which included two friendlies with our northern
neighbors, Canada.
Wambach has scored three goals in the two games and is playing some of the best soccer of her
international career.

GOOD WEEK
On The Bench: Giampiero Boniperti and Alessandro Del Piero had a nice manly hug

the pre season friendly match between FC Juventus and Notts County on September 8, 2011 in Turin,
Italy.
Usain Bolt was about to win another 100 meter race. But, unfortunately, a stupid new rule got
him disqualified. Usain Bolt jumped the gun and was kicked out of the finals in a new rule that
took away the false start warning.
Hands down the best sprinter in the world if not the best track and field athlete of any kind
the Jamaican wasn't too upset after the disqualification.
Right now it may be hard to think about anything other than the riots that ruined England over
the last week, but just wait; the Premiership is starting.
A few great goals, dodgy decisions and tough tackles will have you forgetting the riots like your
partners birthday. As the season goes on though, something will be forced into your thinking, no
matter how much you want to ignore it.
The Chinese Football Association has apologised for its Olympic team's early exit from the 2012
London Olympics qualifying rounds. "We are sorry that the Chinese U-23 team missed the opportunity
to claim a berth at the London Olympics after losing to Oman," the CFA said in a newsletter posted
on its official website as quoted by China Daily.
A football team representing Great Britain at the 2012 London Olympics: a one-off concept that
should have been fun, novel and exciting has withered into disdain and endless bickering. The
ping-ponging of arguments from one FA to another is at fever-pitch at the moment and looks settle
to rumble on like an uncooked curry in [.

up with them and David Beckham, seen here holding the Olympic torch earlier this month with Lord

Specifically, David Beckham's unreported back spasms that kept him out of last weekend's game

The SPANISH U-21 FOOTBALL TEAM plays the Final of the European U-21 Championships tomorrow against
the strong Switzerland Team. An important moment for theses young players who have already secured
a ticket for the 2012 London Olympics & will attempt to follow in the steps of the A-Team, the
current FIFA World Champions.
Rumbling along quietly along in the background, the ongoing argument over whether a Great
Britain team should take part in the 2012 London Olympics has been one of the slow-burning debates
within British football over the last half-decade or so, but this debate ignited this afternoon
after a series of statements, made in turn by the British Olympic Association, the Football
Association, the Scottish Football Association and the Football Association of Wales, which already
seems likely to turn into a full-blown argument.
Outside of the football world, the 2012 London Olympics is starting to creep into the news as
the build up to the event gathers pace. Recently, the Faces of Britain website held a poll among
its readers to find out who should play in a combined GB XI next summer and who should lead them in
the tournament.
