It has been a long season and we have come down to this, one final weekend of games. The New
York Red Bulls kind of took some of the sting out of the weekend with their 1-0 win last night over
the Philadelphia Union.
Still there are some games with meaning this weekend.

The all important second-to-last week in the regular season for Major League Soccer. Six playoff
spots are still up for grabs and a few clubs could clinch those berths this weekend. MLS is getting
exactly what they wanted with this new playoff format, excitement down to the very last week.

It is coming down to the nitty-gritty in Major League Soccer. Week 31 kicks off tonight with two
matches that have a lot on the line in terms of playoff implications. One is a rivalry game while
the other could go a long way in determining possibly the number 2 pick in January's SuperDraft or
whether or not DC United gets into the playoffs this season.

The weekend slate is finally here, it is Friday and that means it is Soccer Night In America.
Okay, I have to admit I have trouble typing that without a little bit of a laugh. For one that show
title will only last a year since FSC or Fox Soccer since MLS is moving to NBC next season.

Only a few weeks remain in the 2011 regular season. The squeaky-bum time is now for several MLS
teams as the playoffs are near. All three of tonight's games have playoff implications surrounding
them in some form or fashion. One team can even clinch a playoff berth (as long as a few other
things happen).

A big weekend is in line for Major League Soccer here. The playoff races are heating up and
teams know now more than every what they need to do in order to reach the post season like the LA
Galaxy. Seattle can clinch a berth this weekend with a win and some help from other clubs but other
than that expect more of a mess in the standings come Monday when all the games are finished.
Philadelphia hosts rivals New England tonight. (Getty Images)
I will try to keep this one fairly brief. Both the New England Revolution and the Philadelphia
Union come into tonight's midweek clash a bit on the downside. Neither club has come into this
match on a hot streak of any kind.
But here we are, with at least the Union in playoff contention at the moment.

This was suppose to be an off weekend in Major League Soccer. One of those rare weekends that
the league decided to take off so players could be with their countries for important FIFA-related
games or friendlies.
Sporting KC hopes to control things against FC Dallas this weekend. (Getty Images)
The weekend had a lot of promise in terms of quality games listed, now three of them are off the
books. Hurricane Irene has caused the league to take some smart precautionary measures by canceling
a couple games for this weekend.

It is finally Friday. Moving into the weekend phase of this week is something I've been looking
forward to since well...last weekend. In all seriousness though, Major League Soccer shifts into
their weekend phase after three decent midweek games.
Can Portland knock off KC at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park? (Getty Images)
While most eyes will be on the two CONCACAF Champions League matches tonight, others will be
focused a bit on the two Major League Soccer games that are on the schedule. Both should be pretty
good too as each have playoff implications written all over them.

It is shaping up to be another big weekend in Major League Soccer. Eight matches are set for the
weekend and a couple of them have big playoff implicated on them.
I won't waste any time getting down to the picks as I have a lot going on for me today.

The weekend slate of games is here for Major League Soccer in Week 21. Like I mentioned
yesterday all 18 clubs are involved in matches this week in what feels like the first time in ages.
The friendly season has died down for the most part (though I know there will still be some here
and there until the middle of September) and it means we can finally concentrate on what is
important in MLS at the moment the playoff push.

It is shaping up to be a fairly busy day here between the weekend slate, the USMNT coaching
announcement and a few other things I have going on here myself (hopefully more on that later).
Anyways, I wanted to share my weekend picks for MLS as the league turns to their second half of
the season now that the All-Star Game is over and done with.

It seems as though there are more games this weekend than there really are in MLS but with a
good chunk of them being friendlies its a little tough to keep everything straight. Still the
league matches that are set for this weekend should prove to be good ones in the end.
Will all of Aron Winter's work pay off tonight against Dallas? (Getty Images)
You can thank SUM for the large amounts of midweek games this week. All the international
friendlies pushed for a big Wednesday night in MLS with five league games. Yup, five of them. For
the most part a couple of them sound pretty good too and will have some playoff implication
surrounding them.
Can Omar Bravo and Sporting Kansas City get back on the winning track in Houston? (Getty

Even with a day off from work I'll probably be fairly light today on here (have family in from
out of town, they're kind of important to me). It will be a busy weekend in Major League Soccer
though, all but two teams are in league action, only one is truly off (Toronto).

A nearly full weekend schedule of games waits us as MLS goes into week 17′s weekend portion.
All but two clubs (New England and Columbus) are in action this weekend. Not sure how those two got
the weekend off here.

It's a holiday weekend and before I go off an enjoy fireworks, beer and not worrying about my
day job I'm going to hopefully have a nice round of posts today starting with the weekend picks. I
mentioned yesterday how packed this weekend is and that games actually spill over into Monday due
to the holiday.

It is a crazy-busy weekend in Major League Soccer. With 10 games to go along with the
uber-important US-Mexico final in the Gold Cup, this weekend lacks any dog days of summer thoughts.
Plenty of action from all over and even though it is too bad the league isn't breaking for this
Gold Cup final, we'll at least see a couple real solid matchups this weekend.

While the majority of the soccer-loving community will be focused on a little US game in the
Gold Cup tonight, there are two Major League Soccer games on the menu tonight. A little crazy in
the scheduling but it is what it is.
Forgive me for the lack of posts in the last day or so. I've been busy getting ready for my
pending vacation this weekend to Colorado. I've had a lot of outside of day job and blogging to
attend to here. Anyways, time to get down to brass tax and get to these weekend predictions.
With loads of games this weekend starting tonight, there will be plenty of quality MLS soccer to
enjoy.

This day has gotten away from me when I really didn't expect it to. Darn work.
Anyways there is a game tonight in Columbus between the Crew and Real Salt Lake. I won't get
into a full preview as time just isn't my friend to but I'll give a quick thought about the game
with a score prediction.

I love a four-day work week. Time just seems to go a little quicker with those kinds of weeks
doesn't it? For me, it also means I'm one week closer to my summer vacation (more on that next
week).
Well, we're at the weekend slate of MLS games here and once again everyone is in action.
Don't feel bad when you look at the MLS slate for this evening, it looks very much like a
weekend's worth of matches when you add the USOC match, a friendly in Portland and the final leg of
the Canadian Cup. Loads of games all over the place, as 11 of the 18 clubs will be in action
tonight.
I'll only focus on the three league games though for my predictions.
Landon Donovan and Sebastien Le Toux battle tonight. (Getty Images)
Week 9 in Major League Soccer gets started a little early again here. Three games tonight, four
if you count a friendly between New York and a soon-to-be MLS side in Montreal. Plenty to get done
today so the picks will be quick as usual, don't worry my What To Watch For post will be up
tomorrow as always on Thursdays to preview the upcoming weekend.
