The Fire have announced the signing of Orr Barouch and Mike Videira bringing the total number of "signed" players on the roster to 25. Barouch, a 6'-2" nineteen year old forward and product of the Tigres UANL youth system scored 4 goals against the New York Red Bulls reserves last month. Videira, 25, has MLS experience with New England and can play midfield or defense.

The Fire trimmed the training camp roster to 33 remaining players (21 signed players, 2 draft picks, and 10 trialists) today after cutting draft choice Amani Walker and trialists Jordan Seabrook, Eric Ustruck, Evan Schwartz, Fabian Burbano, Anderson Costa, and Jocian Bento.

Tunisian Nadir Taider has been identified as one of the new trialists but interestingly enough Open Tryout winner Pari Pantazopolous has survived the first few rounds of cuts and remains in camp.

The Fire finally revealed the identity of the second international striker today, and his name is Diego Chaves. At 5'-10" and 150 lbs. Chaves isn't exactly a prototypical target forward but the Fire are hopeful that he can fill the #9 spot that is currently up for grabs.

Chaves played briefly with Uruguayan teammate Gaston Puerari in 2009 at Montevideo Wanderers before playing for Queretaro and Veracruz in Mexico.

The Fire can't be too happy with a 2-2 draw with Florida Gulf Coast University on Thursday night. The game was played in three thirty minute halves and featured most of the trialists on the pitch as the Fire relinquished a two goal lead after the first sixty minutes.

Training Phase 2

The Fire are currently in Ave Maria, Florida for Phase 2 of training camp while apparently continuing to look at as many available players as possible. On top of the eight additional trialists the team is also hoping to add an Eastern European attacking midfielder.

Before departing for Phase 2 of pre-season training in Florida the Fire announced the release of trialists Nate Weiss, Graham Dugoni, Pedro Chicarelli, Leonardo, Matt Glaeser and Amadou Sanyang.

They have also added new trialists Shane Clark, Gabriel Ferrari, Jordan Seabrook, Evan Schwarz, Joachim Bendu, Orr Barouch, and two additional yet unnamed players.

Section 8 held their Annual General Meeting at the Bridgeview Sportsdome today in conjunction with a Fire merchandise sale and the team's Saturday practice session. The supporter's group conducted the meeting to elect board members and representatives and address fan questions and concerns.

The Fire have announced the first of two international player signings and mystery international striker number one is indeed Uruguayan Gaston Puerari.

Puerari has played in the Uruguayan first division the last four seasons with Rampla Juniors and most recently Montevideo Wanderers.

Media Day at the Bridgeview Sportsdome featured the full current roster in training with the exception of the two mystery international strikers, Deris Umanzor who has been loaned to Aguila in El Salvador, and Steve Kinney and Mike Banner who are recovering from injuries.

Carlos De Los Cobos and Frank Klopas addressed the media after training.
