Major League Soccer today announced the 2011Â adidas MLS Player Combine rosters and Combine
coaches. In addition to the initial list of Division I collegiate seniors and Generation adidas
signings invited to play in Combine, MLS has added seven more collegiate seniors and five
non-collegiate players to the list of participants.
Clemson senior midfielder Tommy Drake (5-8/158) kindly spoke about his college career, his Major
League Soccer Player Combine invitation and his training schedule as he gears up for the event.
Q. Care to comment the team's performance in 2010?
Tommy Drake: In 2010, our team was extremely fit and everyone on the team was committed to
improving every day.
Long known as fertile ground for the professional game, Indiana University sent another member from
its men's soccer program to Major League Soccer's player combine. Senior defender Rich Balchan
accepted his invitation last week as he joined the long list of former Hoosier players to compete
at the annual event.

Major League Soccer just released the initial list of invitees for the 2011 player combine. Roughly
50 seniors make the trip each year to Fort Lauderdale, Florida for the event. Several underclassmen
– including the highly sought after Generation Adidas players – also attend.
Curtis Ushedo, a senior at the University of Alabama–Birmingham, was pleased and excited
when he heard the he was invited.
Forward CJ Sapong is focusing on his potential professional career after a successful
collegiate season. "I am trying to get to the next level," Sapong said.
The attacking player leaves James Madison as one of the program's all-time players. Sapong ranks
fifth all-time in points (95), seventh in goals (37) and fourth in game-winning goals (12).

The Major League Soccer Combine set for next month finally has some players to go along with it.
The league has finalized the list of names they are scheduled to invite to the Combine and the four
teams left in the College Cup are definitely well represented.
Major League Soccer today announced that the 2011 adidas MLS Player Combine will be held from
January 8-11 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., concluding two days prior to the 2011 MLS SuperDraft. The
SuperDraft will be held on January 13 at 12:00 p.m. ET, in Baltimore, Maryland at the Baltimore
Convention Center.
Notre Dame's Greg Klazura, a left back/left winger for the Irish, is returning to school for a
fifth year and will not be attending the MLS Player Combine.
"I plan on staying for a fifth year at Notre Dame and I will not be attending the combine this
year," Klazura said via email.
Men's soccer at the University of Notre Dame is an appealing option for many of the nation's most
gifted prep players. One can obtain an education from a first-rate academic institution, play with
some of the collegiate game's most accomplished coaches and players at elite facilities in the Big
East Conference and use your play on the field as a springboard to the professional game.
