PASADENA, Calif. - Since making his debut for the U.S. men's national team in May 2006, Michael
Bradley has played in 58 matches at the international level. Bradley has played in numerous
big-stage friendlies, World Cup qualifiers, Gold Cup and Confederations Cup games and World Cup
matches.
On June 7th, the Spanish national team played the second of two international friendlies in the
Americas. The first was an energetic 4-0 victory over the United States in Boston; the second, in
Caracas, another dominating win against the Venezuelan team.
The match was noteworthy in contrast to the previous set of friendlies played by Spain since the
World Cup.
All press is good press, right?
Not in the case of the drubbing the USMNT received from Spain on Saturday night. After the US
B-squad was run off the field by Spain in a contest that was about as one-sided as possible,
Tuesday's Gold Cup match versus Canada was the convenient excuse for the team's performance.
