[This is the third and final part of a review series of the 2008-09 CONCACAF Champions League.] I'm
not the best at selecting a complete Best XI...well, goalkeeper and the midfield positions forward
are relatively easy, but the defensive positions are more difficult. But given the amount of
coverage I've devoted to the Champions League, I should at least attempt to give my best eleven for
the sake of completeness.

Champions League represented not only a new frontier for the clubs in the region, but also for
CONCACAF. Never before had it organized a competition of such scope, complexity, and length before.
There were a few hiccups, but overall the competition went very well for an inaugural edition.

competition.] This year, CONCACAF became the last of the worldwide football confederations to
transform its regional club championship into a league-type competition.
The New York Red Bulls are having an absolutely wretched MLS season. They are rock bottom on 10
points from 21 matches, 17 points behind the eighth and final playoff place. What makes the Red
Bulls' situation more precarious is that the eighth placed team, Colorado Rapids, have three
matches in hand and could stretch that gap to at least 20 points or more.
