It's difficult to find any negatives in Town's signing of Elliott Hewitt.
He's young, a defender in a position we need back up for and a good prospect for the future.
Isn't that great?!
His arrival at Town is easy to compare to our Player of the Year for 2011/2012 Aaron Cresswell:
he's young, from a lower league and highly rated: former boss and ex-Macclesfield manager Gary
Simpson sent a message to Town fans in the EADT: 'if he continues to play as he has done he'll make
it to the Premiership, without a doubt'.

Just a quickie to let y'all know that Aston Villa have just announced that Paul Lambert has
officially agreed a deal to become their new manager leaving Norwich with a handful of memories and
£1 million in their back pockets after two promotion in three seasons at Carrow Road.
Champions League final hosts Bayern Munich are favorites to beat Chelsea at their home ground,
but if they do win, their prize money will be going into the pockets of Bundesliga rivals Schalke
and Hoffenheim.
UEFA will pay Bayern a €9 million prize if they beat Chelsea, which also happens to be the
combined total due in "success" clauses written into last summer's deal to bring goalkeeper Manuel
Neuer from Schalke and the previous January's acquisition of Luiz Gustavo from Hoffenheim.

It's not every day that Sporting KC is mentioned in the New York Times, but today a nice article
about the turnaround of the team came out in the New York paper. Plenty of interesting information
with regards to the growth of the team since OnGoal took over. There's also an uncredited mention
of this blog posting the new logo first.

With Liverpool attacker Dirk Kuyt's future shrouded in uncertainty, his former club Feyenoord is
hoping to entice him back to Holland with the offer of a player/coach role.
The 31 year-old Dutch international left Feyenoord to join Liverpool in the summer of 2006, after
enjoying three seasons at the club.
Dennis Rodman isn't doing well these days. The NBA Hall of Famer who made a name for himself by
rebounding the basketball owes nearly $1 million in child support, however court documents say he
doesn't have money to pay and that Rodman is "extremely sick".
While it doesn't go into detail, it appears that Rodman's illness being discussed is
alcoholism.

During deadline day of the 2011 transfer window, Juventus went out and purchased Eljero Elia, a
talented 24-year-old Dutch winger. Somewhat a controversial transfer, the Torino based club bought
the player for 9 million Euros making him one of the more expensive signings of the summer and only
1 million less than the price paid for Stephen Lichtsteiner.
PPL Park is set to host its third ever international friendly, according to an article out of
Chile.
Chilean news outlet La Tercera is reporting that the Philadelphia Union's home will be the
location of a February 29 friendly between Chile and Ghana. "The swanky modern stadium" was
apparently the top choice after MetLife Stadium, home of the New York Giants and New York Jets.
Sack Vanderlei Luxemburgo or part ways with Ronaldinho? That was the choice Flamengo president
Patricia Amorim had to make yesterday as she picked the star player over the 59 year old
tactician.
It is not quite certain why Luxemburgo was sacked, however, many believe that his icy
relationship with Ronaldinho was a major factor that led to his dismissal.
The saga is finally over, but it unfortunately is not the result that Philadelphia Union fans
were hoping it to be.
Sebastien Le Toux's trade to the Vancouver Whitecaps is now official, a source close to the
situation told the Brotherly Game. The source did not know of the details of what the trade would
involve, other than Le Toux heading to Canada.
Sebastien Le Toux could be announced as a Vancouver Whitecaps player as soon as tomorrow, with
no player going sent to the Philadelphia Union in return, according to Irfaan Gaffar.
The soccer reporter announced over Twitter that the deal to bring Le Toux back to the Pacific
Northwest, known affectionately as Cascadia to North American soccer fans, would happen this
week.

Shay Given has recovered from his groin injury and has returned to training for Aston Villa, but
that does not necessarily mean he is going to supplant Brad Guzan as the Villans' starting
goalkeeper.
Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish is keeping his options open in terms of who to start between
the goal posts on a permanent basis as a result of Guzan's string of strong performances since
filling in for Given since early December.

Extra Ref Training -- Is the USSF Actually Listening?
Steve Goff of the Washington Post has obtained the proposed budget for the 2012 fiscal year for
the USSF. Most surprising, and of most relevance, is the $1.1 million increase for Referee
Training. This might be just what the doctor ordered...

Deportivo Saprissa is set to allow Josue Martinez to move to the Philadelphia Union, according
to La Republica.
A throwaway line in the website's game recap of Saprissa's 2-2 draw with Alajuelense included a
comment about Martinez's future with Saprissa, saying that the 21-year-old had played his last game
with the Costa Rican power.

Spanish news outlet Albiazules is reporting that the Philadelphia Union are among a group of MLS
teams that have submitted bids to La Liga Adelante (second division) club Real Club Recreativo de
Huelva for Kepa Blanco.
Blanco has had an up-and-down career in Spain, having impressed with Sevilla B, before being
promoted to Sevilla's La Liga first team and scoring nine goals in 37 games.
Back in July, the Philadelphia Union were linked to Deportivo Saprissa striker Josue Martinez,
and reportedly even made a bid of nearly $1 million for him. MLS Rumors spotted a new report, out
of Norway, that says that the Union are set to bid for the forward again, but this time are the
most likely destination for Martinez with Norwegian club FFK unable to afford a transfer themselves
of between $400-500,000.

Their Words Compared to the average team in our league, the combination of expenses and revenue,
we're about $2.85 million worse per year: about $1 million more in expenses than the average MLS

After a fortnight of ridiculous palaver, Man City announced last night that Carlos Tevez had
been found guilty on five separate counts of breaching his contract on that fateful night in Munich
and duly fined the Argentinian striker four week's wages for the dubious crime of 'refusing to warm
up' against Bayern.
