Featuring Germany World Cup 2006 and 2010 star Lukas Podolski, 1. FC Köln is a German professional
football club based in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia. It was formed in 1948 as a merger of the
clubs Kölner Ballspiel-Club 1901 and SpVgg Sülz 07. The club finished the 2010/11 German
Bundesliga season in 13th place.
I was born into the English leagues. I grew up in Britain so the only leagues I could see on
television and see in person when I was a child in the late 70s and early 80s were the British
leagues. And one of the factors that attracted me most to those leagues, not that I had much of a
choice, was the noise and passion shown by the supporters.
So perhaps this is where we should be.
