Ever since Lionel Messi I have been waiting for him to get injured by some cynical player who would
rather destroy him and let the little magician pass by him. With his small size, I really feared
that Lionel Messi's career would end there. Fortunately, Messi has proven more robust than I
thought, but also, referees are much more protective against wild tackles than they were in the
1980s for
Life for Manchester City supporters in the 1970s and 1980s was one filled with plenty of highs
and lows. The highs included a European Cup Winners Cup trophy, two League Cup trophies and a
Charity Shield. But the lows included City's flirtation with relegation throughout the 80s as they
see-sawed between the top and second flight of the English pyramid system.
Jay Martin, Ohio Wesleyan Men's Soccer Head Coach, was inducted into the Ohio Soccer Hall of Fame
last Saturday evening at Columbus Crew Stadium.
Martin is highly regarded among his peers, and has done a tremendous job at helping grow the game
of soccer at all levels.
"It is a great honor, but I only did my job," Martin said.
