After winning he 2008 European Championship, now successfully defended Sunday, brackets the
squad's 2010 World Cup win for three successive crowns.
La Roja defended their European title in impressive fashion with a 4-0 victory against Italy on
Sunday and have now been rewarded with yet more acclaim.
WORLD Cup Photos: The Netherlands (that's Holland to you) made it two wins in two matches with a
1-0 victory over Japan at the Durban Stadium. It was a tight match. But we think the Dutchman

The New Arsenal 2012/13 Home Kit by Nike - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Arsenal's new 2012/2013 home kit is now available for ordering on the Soccerlens
Store.
Inspired by Arsenal's history of innovation, the new men's Arsenal Home Shirt 2012/13 features
an updated look highlighted by blue and white hoops first introduced by revolutionary Gunners
manager Herbert Chapman in the 1930s.
Who is the best player ever to have been signed by Arsenal?
Last summer I wrote a post about ‘Arsenal's Best Transfer News Ever'. The point of that piece
was to determine which piece of transfer news was the most exciting when it was announced,
regardless of how that player went on to perform for the club.
If you asked me what was one of the best clubs teams I've ever seen, it has to be Liverpool from
the late 70s and early 80s. A perfect example of this is the above video featuring Liverpool's
incredible 7-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur during the 1978-79 season.
Out of the seven goals scored, the last is the best.
Next week England plays France in a friendly at Wembley. Everything about the new England team
looks classy. The world-class stadium, the picture-perfect England kits and the footballers, or
should we say millionaires, who grace the pitch and who are managed by a suave Italian dressed in
the finest suit.
In this week's installment of Friday Flashback Videos, we continue out journey through 1970s
English football by landing on the 1971-72 season and taking us from August until the end of the
season.
As usual, there is so much to watch and so many observations that can be made of how different
the game was back then versus now.
In this week's installment of Friday Flashback Videos, we take you back to the 1974-75
season for a then glamor tie between Stoke City and Leeds United. The video features the first ten
minutes of the broadcast and is hosted by the legendary soccer commentator Brian Moore.
Feel free to post your observations about the game in the comments section below.
For this week's installment of Friday Flashback Videos, we head back to 1992 when
Arsenal went to North Wales to play Wrexham in the FA Cup at the Racecourse Ground.
At the time, Arsenal were second in the top flight of English football while Wrexham were 24th
in the Third Division, which is the today's equivalent of League One.
Arsenal's famous Highbury Clock has finally been brought back to the Emirates thanks to the
continued 'Arsenalisation' work at the stadium.
The iconic clock, which was erected in the early 1930s by the then-manager Herbert Chapman, will
expected to be in place for the start of the Emirates Cup at the end of the month.

By Tony Attwood 1. My father was an Arsenal fan in the 1930s and he saw the greatest team the
country had ever produced.  I grew up supporting Arsenal during one of their lean spells when
year after year we not only won nothing, we never once looked like winning anything. As a teenager
I wondered why [.
"Go on, touch it. I've put the safety on."Football on a Friday night? It's just not cricket.
Perhaps that was the reason for Tottenham's utterly distasteful performance at Vicarage Road as
they scraped past a plucky Watford. If you were to believe the general theme of the commentary and
post-match media reports, you'd be forgiven for thinking Spurs arrived in north west London, rudely
parked their giant team coach wherever they chose, shaped to headbutt anyone and everyone on their
way in and spend the entire game cheating and coercing the ref into allowing them victory.
Instead of showing footage of matches from yesteryear as I usually do every Friday, I thought
I'd share a selection of videos about one of my favorite hobbies from childhood in the United
Kingdom. The table soccer game called Subbuteo.
In the above commercial (presumably from the 1960′s), it captures the excitement of a young
boy playing Subbuteo and imagining that he's playing like the professionals.
Back in November 2011, Preston City Council reluctantly announced that the redevelopment of
England's 50th city had hit the buffers. John Lewis had pulled out of the Tithebarn regeneration
scheme in the city centre and, operating as we are "in the middle of one of the worst economic and
financial situations since the 1930s", plans will now be made to scale down the blueprint
accordingly.
For those amongst you that hadn't noticed, England beat Spain, the current World and European
champions, by a single goal in an international friendly match at Wembley over the weekend. The
celebrations were tempered Spain haven't given the impression of taking friendly matches very
seriously of late and played poorly but there will always be a small corner of England that will be
forever triumphalist, and some may be tempted to start believing that England are now capable of
winning next summer's European Championships.

Manchester City's Italian striker Mario Balotelli did his talking on the pitch as his died
romped to a 6-1 home win over city rivals Manchester United in the league last night.
Balotelli who earlier on Saturday made the news for setting his house on fire, was literally on
fire for the blues as he scored 2 goals that helped Roberto Mancini's side move 5 points clear at
the top of the Premier League table.
Following his quite excellent piece for us about non-league videos a couple of days ago, we
are pleased to welcome Mike Bayly back from the Non-League Day initiative. Mike
wrote a book called "Changing Ends", about a season in non-league football, last
year, and this excerpt from the book traces the history of Dudley Town FC, the representatives of
the largest town in Britain never to have hosted league football.
This week's episode of Friday Flashback Videos features a very rare video of a Manchester City
from 1968 against the Atlanta Chiefs played at Atlanta's Fulton-County Stadium, home to the
baseball team the Atlanta Braves.
The friendly match was played just a few weeks after Manchester City had won the league
championship under manager Malcolm Allison.
This week's episode of Friday Flashback Videos takes a trip back to 1969 to a match played
between West Ham United and Manchester City on a slippery pitch at Upton Park.
The match features some legendary English footballers such as Manchester City's Francis Lee,
Mike Summerbee and Colin Bell against West Ham United featuring Geoff Hurst, Harry Redknapp, Frank
Lampard Sr.
Arsenal have been around almost 125 years now. I've been a season ticket holder for the last
sixteen of those. In terms of success, I could hardly have chosen a better sixteen years in the
club's history. What Wenger has done for Arsenal is comparable to what Chapman achieved in the
1930s of that, there is no doubt.
Hyundai A-League champions Brisbane Roar finally lost their unbeaten record this season when
going down to a 2-0 reverse at the hands of Sydney FC today.
Two goals in the opening twenty minutes of the match put paid to Brisbane's chances of victory
today but the Roar still top the standings with a three point margin separating them from nearest
challengers Central Coast Mariners.
Former Real Madrid President Ramon Calderon has sensationally compared Jose Mourinho
to evil Nazi Dictator Adolf Hitler!
Calderon was president of Real Madrid between 2006 and 2009 and was speaking after Madrid's
General Manager Jorge Valdano was dramatically sacked after a very public falling out with current
Real boss Jose Mourinho.
In what is now Burkina Faso, football in the city of Bobo Dioulasso was sparked to life by the
arrival of large French firms during the 1930s. With the city being the region's administrative and
military centre, there were plenty ... Continue reading →
The Javanese cities of Solo and Yogyakarta have a rivalry going back centuries. Both claim to be
the heart of Java's soul, both claim to better represent the Javanese ideal.
Today they meet on the football field, the Manahan Stadium to be precise, to battle it out for
regional glory.
PSIM from Yogyakarta have the upper hand.
As these articles are required to begin: "It was thirty years ago today..."
Thirty years since John Lennon was killed in New York.
Football and Music has more on the relationship between The Beatles and football - turns out they
weren't all that bothered. Although there is also a suggestion that Brian Epstein told them not to
make their allegiances clear to avoid upsetting the red or blue sides of Liverpool.
