Die Schwaben gewinnen wieder

Bundesliga Blog 18 January @ 03:41 PM EDT

Bundesliga Blog 11 January @ 05:15 PM EDT

The official match ball of the 2010 World Cup made its' Bundesliga debut this weekend. It's the "roundest ball ever" and its' name translates to "celebrate". Bayern Munich couldn't ask for much more. Bordeaux saved their Champions League campaign. The AGM turned out to be a peaceful teary eyed farewell party for Uli Hoeness (swaps general manager for president) and Franz Beckenbauer (swaps president for honorary president). The Bundesliga sent flowers in the form of dropped points.

Extra Time. We can end the debate about where the seven minutes of extra time came from in the Manchester derby. They were taken from the Bundesliga's three Sunday fixtures, where the refs decided to call it a day after pretty much exactly 90 minutes. It's not really a coincidence but rather an annoying habit.

Uli Hoeness predicted that this championship won't be decided on goal difference, but rather that someone would slip up, and he was right albeit in the wrong places.

Bundesliga week 33 – Reaching for a Decision
