Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has revealed an agreement is in place to stop newly-appointed
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers signing players from his former club for 12 months.
"We have got some protection on Brendan coming back for our players in the initial period, which I
think is the right thing," Jenkins told Talksport.
Liverpool target Eljero Elia looks set to snub a move to Anfield in favour of joining Schalke,
reports talkSPORT.
The 25-year-old Dutch international winger is a long-term target for the Premier League side,
despite enduring a difficult campaign with Juventus after arriving in Turin in an £8million deal
from Hamburg last summer.

Man City are the richest club in the world, and yet they have increased season-ticket prices by
an average 9% for next season. And just to make sure supporters get the message there was a price
rise of 6% 12 months ago. The price rise is an average some areas have [...]
With West Ham's promotion to the Premier League yesterday, the 2011/2012 Championship season
finally came to an end. Despite having had three weeks to mull over Ipswich Town's year, I still
haven't come to a conclusion on how I feel about it. It's been disappointing, that much is
clear. But even the pessimistic of fans would be hard pressed to deny that we (when I say we I man
Paul Jewell) have learnt a few lessons and the side HAS progressed form this time 12 months ago.
Around 12 months ago the asking price for Italian striker Giuseppi Rossi was around £30m but
what a difference a year can make in football. Injuries and an unexpected relegation for his club
side Villarreal has got the rumour mills speaking in terms of around £10m for his services.
While these suggestions continue however, the player himself is likely to be out until December
2012 at least.
Goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon This season Buffon has restored his reputation as one of the World's
greatest goalkeepers. He endured a torrid previous 12 months, injuries curtailing his involvement
with the Bianconeri. He certainly did not lack motivation to return and there is little doubt he is
the Gigi of old.
You will always be a legend...Liverpool Football Club have today
announced that Kenny Dalglish will no longer be the manager at Anfield next season. The Liverpool
legend won the Carling Cup and sent the Reds to an FA Cup final but it was his league position that
appeared to create the problem.
The Arsenal winger Theo Walcott is in exactly the same position as Robin Van Persie, having only 12
months left on his contract at the Emirates. Everybody has been trying to decipher Van Persie's
statements to see whether the Dutchman is really going to re-sign, but little or nothing has been
said about Theo Walcott's [.
With Alex Mccleish out of the picture now, the search to find a suitable managerial candidate goes
on. Aston Villa failed in their pursuit of Roberto Martinez last season and from evidence of
Wigan's form in the 2nd half of the season it would seem that he was a big loss. So who do the
Aston Villa board have on their shortlist?

Having become both the first Welsh club to attain and then retain Premier League status over the
past 12 months, Swansea are celebrating their centenary year with a new kit that reflects the swell
of national pride that has accompanied their success with Adidas stitching together an uber-Welsh
new away strip for the Swans to wear as of next season.

Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina insists the Reds are a better team now than they were this time last
year.
The Reds form in the Premier League has been poor since the turn of the year but they have excelled
in the Cups, winning the Carling Cup and getting to the final of the FA Cup where they face Chelsea
next month.

There's no doubt we've improved from last season already," Reina told LFC Magazine.
The Scottish Football Association (SFA) yesterday banned Rangers owner and director Craig Whyte
for life for misconduct on his part arising from unclear dealings since he took over the club last
May after buying it from Sir David Murray for £1.
A tough talking Whyte who was hit with a £160,000 fine and 12 month transfer embargo however
scoffed at the SFA's decision saying that it would not affect him one bit.

Virgin boss Richard Branson has asked the Football Association to rethink the timing of next
month's FA Cup final in the light of travel problems faced by Liverpool fans.
Major maintenance work means rail travel, of which Virgin are the main providers, is likely to be
severely disrupted over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The Easter programme didn't bring much joy to most Tottenham Hotspur supporters as we only

Champions League qualification.

Kenny Dalglish believes that Liverpool have made progress at all levels over the last year.
The Kop icon led the club to Carling Cup glory in February to help them clinch their first trophy
since 2006.
That triumph was expected to signal the start of an assault on the league for a top-four finish,
but over recent weeks the Reds have struggled and are now seventh in the table.
In my time writing this column, I don't ever recall such difficulty in thinking up material to
fill my remit. It's quite absurd when you think about it, that on the back of one of the team's
best runs of form in the last five years, there really is nothing to say. Professional journalists
at least have the advantage of being able to stick a microphone under someone's nose and attempt to
extract a comment that can be conjured into a morsel of controversy.

Around a year ago, Spurs were fielding their only two fit centre halves and I wrote on here
suggesting that the club might have pre-empted this by bringing in some defensive reinforcements in
the January 2011 transfer window. Tottenham had signed a centre half back then – Bongani Khumalo
who has been seen on the subs bench a few times but 12 months ago the situation at the back was
grim.

Last month the US Soccer Federation made drastic changes to the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup tournament.
But did the federation fall short of really legitimizing the tournament.
The tournament was changed from 40 to 64 teams. It includes all MLS squads. It also expands the
number of lower league teams too.
