The Carling Cup win was the highlight...It was a very mixed season for Liverpool that ended in the departure of Kenny Dalglish. It started well but as the league campaign continued, things began to get difficult for the Reds. Two cup finals and one cup win gave the lads some glory but an 8th place finish in the league provided a dark shadow over the season.

His team had been going strong but he couldn't get them to pull a performance out of the bag for his 10th anniversary at the club.

Happy 10th anniversary, David Moyes. Love, Steven Gerrard.
Another performance in a "big game" which, while utterly wonderful – especially because it's in the derby – also makes us rue what's come before. Three goals in a league game for only the fourth time this season, all three from a rampantly dynamic Gerrard.

When Paul Scholes ultimately decides to hang up his cleats, Manchester United will need to replace their masterful midfielder with someone capable of filling his role.

That someone could be Eden Hazard.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson spent this past Saturday watching Lille suffer a 2-1 loss to Lyon, and he was reportedly scouting the Belgian international ahead of this summer's transfer window.

Pato's girlfriend, whom we affectionately love to call 'Babs' for purely shortcut purposes, was in Miami last week to attend Emporio Armani's celebration of Art Basel's 10th anniversary. Thanks to a few paps who we actually don't mind receiving e-mails from, we know that Ms B and the Voronins weren't the only ones occupying the sunshine state recently; Samuel Eto'o & fam spent some time letting their hair down (Georgette let her top down) whilst on vacay in Miami Beach.

Why foootballers like Nathan Eccleston should be allowed to Tweet whatever idiotic rubbish they want

Another week, another player makes the headlines from something he wrote on Twitter. Nathan Eccleston is not a name familiar to many fans outside of the coastal north-west of England, but this week the Liverpool striker caused a stink by tweeting his opinion that the attacks on the World Trade Center, as well as the Pentagon and the doomed United flight 93, were not the work of terrorists.

Morning all,

it's a measure of how quiet it still is that one of the main stories on the official site is Jeremie Aliadiere: my Arsenal career. In terms of capturing one's interest ahead of a title run-in it's up there with Jeremie Aliadiere: the top 5 walls I like to watch paint dry on.

There has still been no official update on post-Interlull injuries but according to The Guardian we're hopeful that van Persie will be fit, along with Abou Diaby and Nicklas Bendnter who injured his ankle in no-man's land while away with Denmark.
