David de Gea put in another good shift against one of the top teams in Manchester United's 3-3
draw with Chelsea.
The Spanish keeper's every move is heavily scrutinised by the press but he has been rightly
praised for his brilliant save from a Juan Mata freekick which saved a point for United in the
dying moments.

In an interview on MLSsoccer.com's ExtraTime Radio podcast, Sebastien Le Toux tells Union fans
who are angry that he was sold to Vancouver that it is important that they continue to support the
Union: "To have you in the stands—it is always great to play in front of you and all of the guys
who played with me are wonderful players and they need you.
Ravel Morrison looks set to leave Manchester United today. I repeat 'Ravel Morrison looks set to
leave Manchester United today'. 10 years ago Ravel Morrison was scouted to join Manchester United,
from that moment on he had an opportunity to develop as a player and more importantly the chance to
develop as a person, unfortunately [.
A common belief is that US youth soccer players suffer from over coaching, and in many cases
that is true. But in our helicopter parent society where kids rarely can just go 'play in the
park', coaches are in a situation where they have to provide SOME instruction and opportunity to
develop. How do you create a fun practice where the kids push themselves vs go through the motions
while also correcting mistakes and allowing for self discovery of soccer skill?

Difficult as this might be to swallow, one of the next big stories coming out of U.S. Soccer

I've written as much.

At 10-year Anniversary Of Dark MLS Days - Daily Soccer Fix
This recap of the days when MLS was the very precipice of failure is a must read. Just 10 years
ago MLS was paying to be on TV (that actually ended in 2002), contracted 2 teams, had only 1 soccer
stadium and couldn't dream of DPs nor averaging more than 17,000 fans per game.
After Platini, Messi is the only other player to win the Ballon d'Or 3 times in a row. This is
fully deserved because:
- Messi is both a fuoriclasse dribbler and plays for his teammates.
- Messi is decisive in the games that count.
- A unique style made of robustness, speed, technique.
I realize this has been around for a while and has likely made the rounds, but it cracked me up.
The sad part is many youth soccer coaches have had to deal with what is said in this video, and it
can be impossible trying to get parents to understand why winning is not important when they're 10
years old.

In game that will be long remembered, Newcastle beat Manchester United by 3-0 for their first win
against the Red Devils in 10 years. And make no mistake about it Newcastle deserved all 3 points

was then manager of Newcastle and if was happening [.
Sweet strike Demba Ba has revealed the secret of his stunning Premier League scoring streak:

Stories of loud and obnoxious soccer parents are not hard to come by. We've all encountered
them, though in my experience they're not as widespread as the media would lead you to believe.
When you do encounter them, it's usually a couple of parents being loud and/or obnoxious while the
other parents behave (and often try to get as far away from the loud ones as possible).

The big business news of the day was the announcement that the naming rights deal between FC
Dallas and Pizza Hut was coming to an end. The $1.2 million per year deal was a significant
milestone when signed, and the loss of the naming rights agreement doesn't bode well for a
franchise also struggling to secure a jersey sponsorship.

- Pretty much any MLS-related transfer reports that come out of France
- Mock MLS drafts

- Series finales that leave more unresolved than resolved (that's for Homeland fans)
Picture Credit: 123RF.comIt has come to this part of the year when I would always pen my annual
review to summarize my thoughts on what happened in the past twelve months in Singapore
Football.
Having said that, I must admit that it's been quite a difficult year for the local football that
has been struggling with myriad of procrastinating problems that remain lingering.
Good morning,
it's interesting to read this morning Arsene Wenger talking about the financial might of Man
City, and then how those comments are interpreted across the media. Obviously we've taken quite a
bit of City's money over the last few seasons and that has led many to think that Arsenal are open
and willing to sell any player to them provided the price is right.
Several media sources are reporting that the new Dynamo Stadium will be named BBVA Compass
Stadium. The deal is reportedly worth $20 million over 10 years for the team, not to shabby but not
as much as you might expect. In all likelihood the team sold the best deal they could and will use
the next ten season building the brand even more to help get an even bigger second deal in the
future, much like they did with the shirt sponsorship.
With everyone scrambling to buy just the right gift for the holidays, we thought it worth
revisiting we did a few months back on the MLS shopping experience.
We have repeatedly posted about the MLS shopping experience. From a shortage of gear at brick
and mortar retailers, to the absence of infant sized Galaxy items to the improved online
experience, we have repeatedly written about procuring MLS items.

FIFA President Sepp Blatter is facing what could be the toughest phase of his career as football
head in the more than 10 years since he took over from Joao Havelange.
The president recently came out to say that England are still bitter at him for their failed
attempt to land the hosting rights to the 2018 tournament.
In a sport where players are increasingly deified, Fernando Torres was a God-like figure at
Liverpool; the fans worshipped the ground he walked on, and in the eyes of his fawning disciples,
he could no wrong. That all changed when El Nino left for Chelsea - he instantly became a traitor;
an Anfield Judas, worthy of nothing but contempt and ridicule.
Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has signed a new contract to stay in the role,
meaning that he will coach the team throughout the 2014 World Cup qualification campaign. Those

Chelsea's defeat against Liverpool this weekend, immediately raised some speculation about Andre
Villas Boas' future with the Blues, especially considering the impatient attitude of the club's
owner, Roman Abramovic.
That minor voices apparently doesn't worry Villas Boas, who truly believes that the club owner
isn't going to betray the arrangement that the two have previously made, which giving the
Portuguese coach time to built a future Chelsea.
Just a few days ago, Brazilian club Santos FC revealed that they were keen on resigning their
former player Robinho. It seems like the comment from their president has sparked rumours that the
AC Milan star could move back to his native Brazil.
Robinho who scored a brilliant goal (which was voted goal of the week) against Catania has come
out to say that he intends to finish his career with the Italian giants.
I have to say if there is one game I cannot stand to lose in a season it's against Liverpool. It's
strange to say it as I am sure my answer would have been different 10 years ago but the recent
history between the two sides means that for me this game has taken on a whole new meaning!
I can't stand losing as it is and it's bad enough losing to United, Spurs or QPR but somehow the
Liverpool game has become the one game I cannot stomach losing to.

The Los Angeles Galaxy are turning their success on the playing field to success in the board
room with a new local television deal.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the Galaxy signed a television deal with Time
Warner Cable valued at 55 million over 10 years.
Need further proof that soccer is here to stay in America? Time Warner Cable is going to pay the
LA Galaxy a whooping $55 million over the next 10 years for their broadcast rights. Yeah, that's a
whole lotta lettuce. Sure no other MLS team can command that kind of deal but you gotta believe
that this kind of thing will only continue to get better for other teams in their markets.
In a season of excitement, disappointment and passion it is difficult to figure out which moment
is most memorable. For 2009 there was a scene in the early hours when hundreds of fans met the team
to celebrate their first trophy. In 2010 another US Open Cup win was highlighted by Sanna Nyassi's
brace.
Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-Sung has lavished praise on manager Sir Alex Ferguson for his
ability to stay at the top of his game after 25 years in control at the Premier League giants.
"He knows past and present things about football," the former South Korea international told
the club's official website.
In the absence of real news, as the Interlull takes hold rather more quickly than we might have
liked, I am very grateful of the chance I got yesterday to visit Arsenal.
I took a CattleAir flight, was very kindly picked up and dropped off at the training ground by

A couple of weeks ago, Gary Gillespie revealed that when he was at Liverpool under Kenny Dalglish,
the players were 'just told to go out and play', and that during his 8 year spell at Anfield 'the
days we were actually coached I can count on one hand'. Against Swansea yesterday, it seemed like
the coaching had regressed back to Gillespie's 1980s heyday for the afternoon.
Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy believes that Liverpool 'lacked something' under Gerard Houllier,
Rafa Benitez and Roy Hodgson, and despite the trophies won, he feels that the style of football
being played under Kenny Dalglish is what fans should be expecting from Liverpool FC.
Bellamy, who has scored two goal in 5 appearances so far this season, argued:
"Over the last 10 years, the club has won trophies, and we've had good managers who've done very
well, but it still wasn't Liverpool for me; it still lacked something for me.
