Ahead of tonight's US Open Cup match between the Union and the Rochester Rhinos, PSP spoke
with Rhinos head coach Jesse Myers about the coach's role on a team, preparing his squad for a MLS
opponent, veteran leadership, and how the evolution of Major League Soccer has affected leagues
like USL.
What are your memories of your first European Championship? For me, it was UEFA 80 (or Europa 80),
as they were called back then. I was 10 years old, and — to be honest — I don't remember much
from the tournament ...

It has been a strange few weeks for Korean football and the fact that the final round of
qualification for the 2014 World Cup is about to start has almost been forgotten. National team
head coach Choi Kang-hee has been one of the most successful coaches in Korea and Asia over the
last few years but increasingly in recent weeks he has been looking stressed.
The Portuguese claimed his seventh league title in 10 years last week as he led Real Madrid to Liga
success over Barcelona. Is he now the best trainer to ever grace the game?
Ben Hayward writes of Mourinho's most recent accomplishments, and tries to gauge where he sits
historically now among the world's greatest coaches.
Dietmar Hamann has warned Liverpool's owners to get things right this summer, or face a decade away
from the Champions League.
Liverpool endured a dreadful league campaign under Kenny Dalglish, finishing eighth behind
neighbours Everton. The Reds' 2011-12 performance represents their worst finish for nearly 20
years.
Seems to me that the news of the league authority having talks with another Japanese club, Cerezo
Osaka "some times back" triggered another round of exchanges of thoughts on the tweet timeline.
Not much concern about whether the league is ready to welcome another new team into it, nor the the
fate of Albirex Niigata (Singapore), who are in the scene since 2004, with talks of consider
pulling out if the Osaka club is given entry to the league.
Fraizer Campbell joined Manchester United's youth set up when he was 10-years-old and spend 12
years at the club.
This weekend, United have a slim chance of winning the league if they beat Sunderland, and
Campbell has admitted he wishes it was possible for us both to win.
"It would be nice if we could both win," he admitted.
Those who think this possession thing is just a fad expose one, or a
combination of the following:

How long you've been involved in the game, plain and simple.
Professionalism is an odd topic. It can be as simple as "Does one get paid?" The NCAA has
hundreds of pages and dozens of people dedicated to codifying the differences between amateur and
pro status. Yesterday, after the Portland Timbers debuted their new dedicated training facility
some on Twitter were claiming that the Timbers are still not a fully professional organization
because they play on artificial turf.
With the European season winding down to a close, attention is starting to shift to potential
transfers that could happen in the summer. There has been a lot of talk recently concerning the
future of key players across the many big clubs in Europe.
In Italy, however, Milan's Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has ruled out the possibility of
leaving the Rossoneri.
It's been that kind of week for United. Starting with the win over QPR, deemed unfair thanks to
Young's gravity-tripping right till the otherwise comprehensive win over Villa still deemed unfair,
thanks to... oh. Well, that aside, it's also been generally unsatisfying for this time of the
season as a United fan.

It seems that Manchester City's Adam Johnson may be made available in the summer and Newcastle
could be interested in the Sunderland-born player. Adam Johnson could be available this summer Adam
was born in Sunderland to a family that were Sunderland supporters, but he turned out to be a
Newcastle supporter, and even joined Newcastle when he was just 10 years old [.
Despondent Everton manager David Moyes admitted his side missed the perfect opportunity to reach
the FA Cup final after they lost to Liverpool.
The Reds came from behind to win 2-1 at Wembley with goals from Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll after
Nikica Jelavic put Everton ahead.
"It was a great opportunity for us to give ourselves a chance to play in another Wembley final,"
said Moyes.

According to The Times, Man City manager Roberto Mancini told Mario Balotelli, the one player
who has given him more headaches than all others combined, that "if you played with me 10 years ago
I give to you every day maybe one punch in your head!" But when the subject was raised with Man
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, he revealed a fundamental difference in approach that just might
be why his side leads Mancini's by five points in the table.
Old Liverpool hand Sami Hyypia becomes Leverkusen's interim coach
A string of poor results including a weekend loss to Freiburg ended Robin Dutt's reign at Bayer
Leverkusen. Dutt's team was sitting in seventh in the Bundesliga far removed from its runners up
position last season.
Bayer announced Sami Hyypia, coach of the reserve team and Sascha Lewandowski, the U-19 head
honcho would manage Leverkusen to the end of the season.
Former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has expressed his desire to find a new managerial role in the
Premier League but has distanced himself from a return to Anfield.
The Spanish manager, who is currently without a club, claimed that he would be pleased to make a
Reds comeback one day, but is not currently pushing the move out of respect for the club and
current boss Kenny Dalglish.

Sometimes, you can go back home. Just ask former Revolution midfielder/forward Ryan Kinne.
On Tuesday, the Naugatuck, Conn. native joined CFC Azul for the upcoming PDL season with the
hopes of returning to the professional ranks.
We've been talking on this blog. Talk, talk, talk, talk, talk.
Anyone can talk. And anyone does.
Just look at all the garbage online, and the monkeys on TV (I guess you'd have to be able to
identify it as such).
Well, it's time to do some show.
First some things to keep in mind:
- This video is from our State Cup Semi-final a couple weeks ago.
Alright folks, the hat trick/QOTD is back, and just 3 short days away from the Fire home opener.
It seems like it certainly has been a long time since our Men in Red played a MLS game at Toyota
Park. Well, that wait is almost over, and hopefully our first 3 points of 2012 comes with it. I
will also have a collaboration piece up with The Brotherly Game most likely on Friday or early
Saturday at the latest.

David Moyes: "It was a better situation 10 years ago. Back then, I looked abroad at the way agents
had control of the players, and in some cases the clubs, and you thought that couldn't happen in
Britain. You thought the chairmen of clubs wouldn't be daft enough for agents to be doing the
deals, or telling them what deals they should be doing.

"Chinny reckon!"
A picture perfect hat-trick from Steven Gerrard on his first Premier League start since 11th
February saw Liverpool comfortably usher Everton aside at Anfield and keep themselves above their
Merseyside rivals in the Premier League pile.
It was a quick trip to the Big D for United States Men's National team coach Jurgen Klinsmann on
Sunday. The US boss was on hand for the MLS season opener between FC Dallas and the New York Red
Bulls. He also was there to scarf Uncle Lamar's statue in the North Gate at FC Dallas Stadium.
The spoke briefly to a few reporters before the game and offered up a few interesting
nuggets.
The fight is gone. It's not about democracy in a region of the world lacking basic freedom and
human rights. It's all about religion.
Israel has been viewed as a friend to the U.

MLS commissioner Don Garber's desire for a second New York franchise has not been a secret for
some time, but Thursday he shed some light on the progress the league is making on securing a
stadium site.
In honor of today being International Women's Day (which makes one wonder why 3 and a half
billion people get one whole day), let's get some updates on the Sounders Women.
Shut Out By Japan - After coasting through their first two group matches in the Algarve
Cup, the US women fell once again to the Japanese women, who have quickly become the US' nemeses
after defeating the Yanks in the World Cup Final.
A Council of Europe committee has came out and said that Man City's £400 million sponsorship
deal between itself and Etihad airline is an "improper transaction."
The Council of Europe cannot impose any rules however, it is separate from the European Union
and acts as a watchdog body, which means that they might not be able to do anything to stop the
deal.
In what looks to be a depressing case of "Footballer Goes Verrrrrückt
(insane)", Bayern Munich's Brazilian defender Breno is set to face indictment for his act of arson
on his own home in September last year. And if he is found guilty (all evidence, unfortunately,
points to him) in court this month, Breno will face up to 10 years in prison.
Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson has hailed Ryan Giggs as the greatest player in the
history of the club and that no one would match his impressive achievements.
Giggs is set to make his 900th appearance for the club against Ajax today in a Europa League
clash at the Old Trafford.

So Rangers are in Administration.
Basically Rangers have over spent through the last however many years - owing so much money they
are law breakers!
Does that mean all the Championships over the last 3 or 10 years were won unfairly, nay
illegally.
Perhaps they should be stripped of their titles and hand them back to their law abiding and
rightful owners.
David de Gea put in another good shift against one of the top teams in Manchester United's 3-3
draw with Chelsea.
The Spanish keeper's every move is heavily scrutinised by the press but he has been rightly
praised for his brilliant save from a Juan Mata freekick which saved a point for United in the
dying moments.

In an interview on MLSsoccer.com's ExtraTime Radio podcast, Sebastien Le Toux tells Union fans
who are angry that he was sold to Vancouver that it is important that they continue to support the
Union: "To have you in the stands—it is always great to play in front of you and all of the guys
who played with me are wonderful players and they need you.
Ravel Morrison looks set to leave Manchester United today. I repeat 'Ravel Morrison looks set to
leave Manchester United today'. 10 years ago Ravel Morrison was scouted to join Manchester United,
from that moment on he had an opportunity to develop as a player and more importantly the chance to
develop as a person, unfortunately [.
A common belief is that US youth soccer players suffer from over coaching, and in many cases
that is true. But in our helicopter parent society where kids rarely can just go 'play in the
park', coaches are in a situation where they have to provide SOME instruction and opportunity to
develop. How do you create a fun practice where the kids push themselves vs go through the motions
while also correcting mistakes and allowing for self discovery of soccer skill?
