It really blows when you have someone like Damien Comolli make the ultimate decisions on player transfers which bomb and yet escape the wrath of Daniel Levy because the buck can be passed onto the manager. Quick, someone give me this job.

My thesis is that the lack of inches on the Arsenal defense bemoaned by Wenger and Toure is a convenient excuse for the generally brain dead defending that sunk us so badly against Hull. A new week of CONCACAF Champions League play starts today. In United's group, Deportivo Saprissa hosts current Group A leaders CD Marathon. Group B leaders UNAM will take on the Houston Dynamo at 10 p.m. ET and this game can be seen live on Fox Soccer Channel.

GOLTV will air this (apparently) updated comedy "documentary" stariing former Python John Cleese at 5 p.m. Wednesday that's a couple of years old, but now includes references to Euro 2008.

The United Soccer League named it's All-League Teams on Tuesday. I know I don't report nearly as much about the USL as I should, especially given the league's recent success in the U.S. Open Cup and CONCACAF Champions League, but here is a chance to get a look at the best the USL has to offer.

Maradona, Caniggia, Sensini, Balbo, Chamot, Simeone, Redondo, Batistuta, Crespo, Veron. The list of great Argentinian players to grace the pitches of Serie A can go on and on. And pretty soon we might have to add another name to the list: Mauro Zarate. The 21 year old striker is on fire, leading the Serie A scoring charts with 6 goals in the first 5 games and giving defenders nightmares.

Wednesday's Matchday 2 for Liverpool will be against Dutch side, PSV Eindhoven, currently 2nd in the Dutch Eredivisie. This will be held at our fortress, so I supposed it is easy to conclude that we will win comfortably. My prediction: 3-1. It will be a Gernando show : ))

In fact I will not be surprised if PSV were to score first, just like Marseille did in Matchday 1.

Liverpool last faced PSV in April 2007 in the Champion's League, but look at the difference in the sides now compared to then.

Two team's, one season, different directions.

Passion, guts, determination - Chivas USA have embraced those qualities, the Galaxy have not. For the most part, that's the difference between the two franchises this season.

United will look to get back to winning form in the Champions League against last year's Danish Superligaen champs. It also looks to be the 4,308th game that will see Anderson play well, and yet still fail to score.

I mentioned it in the recap, but we should really flood the box for Connor Casey's goal as Goal of the Week. It was an amazing, last-second, game-winning, hat-trick-clinching strike. So vote early and often Rapids fans. We really don't get enough of these.

How did New York win the Super Bowl? They peaked at the end of their season, going into the playoffs. That's a different sport, of course, but it's a good lesson to remember: to win a title, you have to finish strong. And so far, the Rapids are doing just that.

It's hard to say that the Rapids don't have momentum right now.

Daniel Agger has spoken out to quash rumours he is unhappy at Anfield, by insisting he wants to stay and fight for his place in the side.

Chealsey Russell (Kickapoo 2008) made her first start Sunday for the Rice Owls. She played 42 minutes Friday. She also started and played 90 minutes Sunday as the Owls defeated Marshall. There's a nice description of the first goal below:

It was Russell who helped open the scoring early in the contest with the Owls' Show-Me-State 1-2 punch.

Our favourite Bundesliga team almost pulled another rabbit by losing narrowly to powerhouse Werder Bremen in an exciting and fast paced match with lots of goals. And the hottest Bundesliga striker, Vedad Ibisevic scored his 7th goal. His Bosnian team mate Sejad Sahilovic kept pace with three.

The Branson Pirates broke through on their home field for the first time on Monday. A 2-1 victory over a very fast Neosho team earned the Pirates their first COC win and their first on field victory at John E. Chase stadium.

Lawrence was X-rayed on Monday and although the initial scan showed no break he is a doubt for Stoke's match against Portsmouth next Sunday.
