In yet another rant of 'I didn't like who won the CL finals', Sepp Blatter is asking Beckenbauer to
look into an alternative to the penalty shootout finish. Many of you may remember the abortive
attempts of FIFA to have the 'golden goal' rule applied and the many games that kept going and
going because someone had to win, and damned be the player's health.
During the recent FIFA committee meeting in Hungary, among other things discussed, was the stance
that FIFA should be more transparent and reduce corruption. "Hooray," said Sepp. "But don't make
it too transparent or any less corrupt." Several of the topics discussed was an age limit on
committee members, background checks on all senior members and create a hotline for whistleblowers

Chelsea... What can you say about a team that fires the second coming of Mourinho late in the
season and his replacement goes on to win the CL finals in dramatic fashion? Well, to those fans
that haven't been following the controversy, here is a breakdown of why some teams are going to be
upset going into next season with the Chelsea win: 1) Spurs.
Technically, it's not truly over. There is that bit about who is going to Champions League next
season. If Chelsea beat Bayern Munich on the 19th, then, as CL winners, they go, despite
finishing the EPL season in 6th, and 4th place Spurs go to Europa League. Blame the 'fairness'
that is FIFA and UEFA for that.
Sorry it has been a while, but I have big news today. Yesterday and today were the second legs of
the Mexico Torneo Clausura semifinals, between Monterrey and Club America (yesterday) and Santos
Laguna and UNL Tigres today. The matchup for the final will be interesting, given the events of
recent weeks.
A pretty good Cup final from Wembley. Drogba score in what may be his last FA Cup appearance for
Chelsea. Andy Carroll, for his part, comes off the bench and produces a late goal and a later
denied 2nd that would have equalized with less than 10 minutes remaining, but the refs claimed that
Cech stopped it before it crossed the line.
Peharps Newcastle felt safe in their chances for CL action next season. Maybe they have been over
achieving. Either way, their game came crashing down today as they took on lonely Wigan and got
their backsides handed to them. Wigan outshot and out possessed Newcastle and Victor Moses scored
a brace in a matter of 3 minutes early in the first half as Wigan showed some attempts to stay up
with a

Sometimes it's not all about possession, or shots, or beautiful soccer. In the end, it's about the
scoreboard. Let this be a lesson to you coaching aspirants: Sometimes you have to know you are the
weaker team and park the bus. The lone shot on goal for Chelsea wins it. 1-0.Video: Fox Soccer

Just days before taking on Barcelona in CL action, Chelsea takes on Spurs in FA Cup action.
Unfortunately for Spurs, they forget to bring many players that actually want to win. A
questionable 2nd goal for Chelsea and Spurs collapse upon themselves. Chelsea wins, 5-1 at
Wembley.Gonna try a little something here that's different.
There has been much attention on the LA Galaxy's slow start. The last-place Galaxy had zero goals
from Landon Donovan and David Beckham entering Saturday's game against the Portland Timbers at the
HDC. It looked like the Galaxy's poor form would continue as Portland seized a 1-0 lead, but Landon
Donovan scored his first goal of the season just before halftime.
It's an absolute battle for first. With just a handful of matches remaining, United is trying to
fight off a late run by City for the top spot... unfortunately for Villa.United 4, AV 0Video: Fox

Damn. Someone got complacent. Man U traveled to DW Stadium and was outshot and outplayed, and the
scoreline showed it as Wigan's Shaun Maloney scores the lone goal and Wigan gets the full 3

Wednesday night, the two finalists for the CONCACAF Champions League will be decided. Toronto FC
could only manage a draw against Santos Laguna at home last week, with Herculez Gomez continuing
his scoring streak in a 1-1 draw. April 4 the two teams will meet in Torreon, Mexico, and Santos
Laguna should kick butt, despite missing their other great forward, Colombian Carlos Quintero, who
will be
