The transfer window (finally) has ended. Even within minutes of the deadline, many teams were
scrambling to make some last minute trades, purchases, and loans. In fact, the final 10 transfers
for all the leagues were dominated by Turkish sides, such as Gaziantepspor, Trabzonspor, and
Kasimpasaspor, accounting for 7 of the top 10 transferred finished before the deadline.
This past Sunday, August 29th, Fiorentina battled Napoli in their opening match of the Serie A
season. Although ending in a 1-1 draw, the Florentina-based outfit controlled most of the game,
maintaining possession for 52% of the game with 8 shots on goal. It also marked the unveiling of
their new kits, complete with their new shirt sponsor, Save the Children.
Some clubs are known for being talent factories. For instance we recently wrote about Arsenal
detecting youth talent and helping them turn into great players. But Arsenal is definitely among
the most famous clubs in the world. In the shade, less popular clubs have organized their whole
business model around player detection, training and sales.

Although last year ended on a good note, with Internazionale becoming the European champions,
completing the Treble (and Supercoppa Italiana), Italian soccer has seen better days.
In our "Football-is-a-business" series, today's infographic aims at figuring out if English
Premier League Clubs are smart in signing new players, in other words if if they are cash
efficient.
First off, we need to precisely define the "cash efficiency" notion so that we all understand
what Footbalistic studied.
In France, not so many clubs are backed by rich shareholders with deep pockets. As a matter of
fact, very few of them are able to sign a player for more than 10 million euros, while in Spain,
England, Italy and even Germany, we're often talking 20+. In the current transfer window, Ligue 1's
"Gros Quatre" ("Big Four") which includes Lyon, Marseille, Paris and Bordeaux gather shareholders
able to spend money on big names or potential stars.
Earlier today, Bayern München and VfL Wolfsburg played each other in the
opening match of the Bundesliga season. Pitting last year's winners against the runners-up
(respectively) proved to be a good match-up, with Bastian Schweinsteiger sealing the
victory for the Munich-based club in the first minute of stoppage time.
As detailed in our previous blog post, each and every player of the German National team (a.k.a
National Mannschaft) were part of a team operating in the Bundesliga, with Bayern Munich being the
most represented club of all. Today, Friday August 20th 2010, is the first day of the Bundesliga's
newest edition with a very interesting game opposing the Bayern Munich (2009-2010 champion) to the
Vfl Wolfsbug (2008-2009 champion).
With the start of the Bundesliga today, let's take a look at the German league, teams,
players, and some new changes, as well how their World Cup run ties it with it all...
Germany had a rather successful run in South Africa for the 2010 World Cup, finishing in 3rd
place, after being knocked out by the eventual winners, Spain.
Facebook is the most incredible online success of the last 5 years. Everyday around the world,
millions of people share stories, update status, upload photos or videos. Most of the time, what's
shared is more interesting for the one who published than for people who read. However, for
football fans willing to show their support for a club or a player, Facebook is a blessing.
