The Ultimate Football Blog
For those reading, if there are any, you may have noticed this website took a sudden and unexpected
break since early November. And that is solely down to me. It was my decision to discontinue the
posts and I had made no plans as to when The Promised Land would resume.

Every week I love to pick him out. "He's fucking useless!!" "Take him off!!" these are only two of
the things I'd regularly shout whilst watching my beloved United. But when I sit back and think
about what he's done, the important goals and assists he's given to United and the tireless, body
on the line effort he puts in every time he pulls on the United shirt, Park ji Sung shows that you
don't need all the skill and style to be the valuable player he is.

At the beginning of this season I stated loud and clear that I believed Real Madrid, now under the
guidance of Jose Mourinho, would beat everything that stood in front of them, and take home any
silverware that's on offer.

Whether you are a Manchester United supporter, a Liverpool supporter, an Everton Supporter, whether
you follow CITEH, Arsenal, Chelsea or Norwich, whether football is just a passing interest or
whether you have no affiliation to the game whatsoever, you will be shocked to have learned that
Wayne Rooney has told Manchester United that he no longer wants to play for the club.

It's not hard to make the incompetent idiots in the FA look stupid. They make stupid decisions
every single week and their failure to make any attempt to change the rules to improve the game
(along with FIFA) is slowly killing the sport we all love. In other words they're fucking idiots.

Last week, Thomas wrote a piece criticising Manchester United and
Sir Alex Ferguson's management of the team. Whilst he clearly feels that Sir Alex is among the very
best football mangers ever, he conceded that it may perhaps be time for him to leave his job after
24 glory-ridden years.

Firstly, apologies for the delay in this week's post. The Promised Land's main post is up
every Tuesday, so to anybody interested, this is just a once off.
Secondly, due to circumstances over the past few days, I have been unable to find the time to put
together a proper piece on certain things I wanted to talk about.

Before we get to our fifth week of The 411-TPL Premier League Player Of The Week, we're
going to take a trip down memory lane. Last Monday was the first anniversary of simply the greatest
derby to have ever been contested. Thomas is going tell you more.
The Ultimate Football BlogEditorialWell, I must say I got it wrong last week. I claimed that Chelsea were only winning games so
convincingly because teams were lying down and dying before they even stepped on to the pitch to
play the Blues. In fact, some teams last 72 seconds before collapsing.

You've got to hand it to Chelsea.
Four games, four wins. They've been incredible. Before Scott Parker's lovely effort on Saturday,
the last time Chelsea's rearguard was pierced in the Premier League was way back when Gareth Bale
blew last season's title race wide open at the end of April.

Every year it's the same debate. Every year it's the same agonising decision. Every year I try and
make one of the toughest calls any football supporter has to deal with: who is worthy enough of
taking pride of place on the back of my brand spanking new jersey?

With the World Cup not long passed and the Euro 2012 qualifiers starting this evening, The
Promised Land asks what's more important: Supporting your club? Or supporting your country? As
ever, Ross and Gerard have
contrasting views.

This is a FOOTBALL website; NOT a Manchester United website.

At the beginning of last season, Roy Keane and Ipswich Town were something of a laughing stock.
With high hopes and expectations, in Keane's first full season in charge, it took 15 games before
The Tractor Boys recorded their first league win.
