It's that time of year again, Union fans. As of now, our controversial roster is pretty much
what it's gonna be. Following an offseason of unusual turnover, heart-rending surprises,
vicious debate, and a deluge of tweets fit for no man's daughters, we've got ourselves a team.
For better or worse, Union 3.
In which we address the pre-pubescent new roster, and try to see things from where our beleaguered
coach stands.
Our 3-part series breaks down the 2012 Union roster by position. Today, the D. Tell us where we're

empty, his neon boots no longer by the door.
Today, everything changed. The Union traded Le Toux to the Vancouver Whitecaps, where he'll play
alongside Eric Hassli. Eric FUCKING Hassli. Though also French, Hassli earned three red cards in
his debut MLS season. Remember when Woody and Buzz ended up in Sid's hands?
The wins might remain elusive for just long enough to crush our dreams. Or not.
Emotions ranged last night, from despair to hope to joy to...confusion. Let's sort through our
feelings together.
The razor's edge. The precipice. The thin line. That's where the Union stands now, having
infamously fallen from the uppermost echelon of the Eastern Conference table into the murky gray
area of 4th-ish place. While our be-snaked boys in blue cling valiantly to our playoff chances,
our enemies circle.
Lost in the roller coaster ride of losing Ruiz and gaining Adu is the one offensive signing no one
is quite sure what to expect from.
Have you heard? The transfer season is heating up, with a landmark deal for a relatively big-name
signing. Good one, Pete.
