Long time Spurs target Leandro Damiao has reportedly hinted that he feels he is ready to test
himself outside of Brazil after the 22 year old has continued to impress at Internacional.
His employers however don't seem to feel the same way and are claiming that any offers will be
refused until the end of the domestic season in December.
Harry's handwriting has been the butt of enough jokes in recent weeks but it's hard to resist
the suggestion that it is responsible for Spurs going after Marvin Martin and not Marko Marin.
Stories began to emerge yesterday suggesting that the club were considering a bid for Sochaux
midfielder and French international Martin after the player revealed that he is ready to head
abroad.
Michael Dawson has missed such a proportion of Spurs' games over the last two seasons that he is
in danger of becoming a forgotten man. Several people who have been asked to predict Tottenham's
central pairing for next season have mentioned Vertonghen (hopefully), King (occasionally) and the
likes of Caulker and Kaboul.
If, as is being suggested, Harry resolves any issues with Daniel Levy and continues as Spurs'
manager, you would hope that with the transfer window about to officially open, some deals might
start to be concluded.
One player who was briefly mentioned in January was Newcastle's Demba Ba who enjoyed a prolific
African cup of Nations before returning and being upstaged somewhat by his compatriot Papiss
Cisse.
The question of Harry Redknapp's tenure is about to be concluded with the manager and chairman
due to meet. While there has been a great deal of uncertainty and suggestions that Daniel Levy has
run out of patience with Harry, reports are suggesting that the boss is to be offered a one year
contract extension.
Stories emerging today come with the headline that Spurs might be plotting a £20m raid on
Wolves over the summer. Without wanting to be too disparaging as far as the West Midlands club are
concerned, at first glance it might seem that £20m would be enough to buy the whole squad.
But no, the reports go on to claim that that fee would just about be enough to prise away two
players – Matt Jarvis and Steven Fletcher.
Tottenham's captain Ledley King is due to hold talks with the club over the next few weeks with
regards to his future as his contract starts to run out.
Ledley was guaranteed a new deal if he reached 20 games for Spurs last season and although he
ultimately fell short of that target, the feeling in the press, at least, is that a new contract
will be on the table ahead of 2012-13.
Stories are gathering momentum suggesting that German side Schalke 04 are preparing a £10m plus
bid for Rafael van der Vaart and are hoping to conclude business once the European Championships
are over.
There are a few ‘carrots' to this offer that might make sense from the player's point of view:
Firstly, he would be teaming up with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar – so no chance of him coming the other
way then – and secondly , the Germans have supposedly promised Rafa first choice in his preferred
playmaker slot.
While we know that this is almost certainly a non-starter, particularly if Harry Redknapp stays
at the club, it's interesting to see a number of Premiership sides being linked with Kevin
Prince-Boateng this week.
KPB was at the club between 2007 and 2009 and despite his undoubted promise, failed to make an
impact.
Reports are emerging today that suggest Spurs will not be retaining the services of Louis Saha
after his six month contract at White Hart Lane expires. There has been some controversy over the
player after his pro-Chelsea Champions League comments but perhaps the club would be inclined to
disregard that and make a decision purely on footballing reasons.
Yesterday we looked at the situation that Giovani dos Santos finds himself in and questioned
whether it really was an option for the player to stay at White Hart Lane. In the meantime, it
looks as if things have started to progress with reports that Swansea are looking at the
possibility of a loan deal for the Mexican international.
The Daily Express this morning leads with the headline that Jermaine Jenas can leave White Hart
Lane this summer but it goes on to name a host of players that the newspaper believes are surplus
to requirements.
JJ was loaned out to Aston Villa at the beginning of 2011-12 but after optimism over a possible
permanent deal to the Midlands club, injury wrecked the player's move and he returned to the Lane
shortly afterwards.
With a question mark over Scott Parker's fitness it may have been a surprise for many to see him
start the game against Norway at the weekend but after playing into the second half, Scott looks
set to make the plane for Euro 2012.
"The game in Norway was my first for a while and I'm pleased I've come through it.
Some reports today are linking Spurs with a summer move for Swedish international and PSV
Eindhoven striker Ola Toivonen who has been fairly prolific in Holland, despite his current
employers' previous attempts to offload him.
It is said that PSV tried to negotiate a sale for Toivonen to either Liverpool, Sunderland or
West Brom last year and the player has hinted that he may leave this time around.
Tottenham's Mexican international Giovani Dos Santos is currently away with his national squad
as they prepare for a 2014 world cup qualifier but he intends to sort out his club future on his
return. Surprisingly, Gio has even hinted that he might still be at White Hart lane next
season.
"I don't know about my future," he said.
