After two weekends without a game, it was an emotional return to football at the City Ground as
Forest shared the spoils with Watford. James Bolton reports. Steve Cotterill gave loanees Scott
Wootton, Danny Higginbotham and George Elokobi their debuts while Marlon Harewood and Luke Chambers
returned to the starting line-up.
A vastly improved performance from Reds team with a completely revamped back four, and plenty of

Gunts will probably want to forget his assorted misses today! Nottingham Forest 1 Watford 1 It was
always going to begin an emotional day the first gathering of the Forest family since we lost our

Right, back to business as usual. Sort of. The game will begin with a minute's applause before
kick-off and both sides will don black armbands in memory of Reds owner Nigel Doughty who passed
away last weekend. Our first action in twelve days thanks to the interventions of weather and our
own rubbishness in the cup, one would hope that the players will be eager to proffer a considerable
improvement over recent encounters [.
Death holds no favours, death does not discriminate between those who have wasted their lives
drinking, taking drugs and smoking. Death comes but once and it is final. Death is unfair. It takes
the best and the worst that mankind has to offer and does not discriminate between them. Death
cannot distinguish the good from the bad.
It's been a strange few days for Forest fans in the aftermath of the untimely passing of Nigel
Doughty. The elements intervening in the weekend's game gave a welcome break from contemplating our
on-the-pitch troubles and time for reflection time that many Forest fans have put to good
use in raising over £3,000 for ChildLine as a small tribute to the memory of our owner [.
When a man's death is covered so eloquently, thoughtfully and heartfelt by so many when words fail
me it's difficult to add anything to what has already been said. Yet it seems wrong to say nothing.
At times like this people grasp for meaning; for answers; for reason. There is nothing. Nigel
Doughty [.

If it wasn't for TV scheduling many of us would be receiving the sad and shocking news of Nigel
Doughty's death at the age of 54 as we left Pride Park or awaited the match reaction from our
radios. But with no game today most of us would have been enjoying a Saturday afternoon with no
football, maybe spending time with family or friends, or just getting odd jobs around the house
done [.
It was quite the shock to hear the news that Nigel Doughty had passed away on Radio Nottingham this
afternoon. 54 is certainly no age, and my thoughts and condolences go to his family and colleagues

Let's face it, the most realistic way we have of seeing out this weekend without another defeat is
if the weather forecast comes in at the more severe end of the prediction and we get the game
snowed off. Rarely have I been able to muster up less optimism for a trip down Brian Clough Way
despite a largely awful time of it contesting matches at Pride Park [.
Seven home games without a goal... Here's hoping the end of the transfer window and a few loans
might change things. James Bolton reports from the City Ground. The big news as kick off approached
was that youngster Jamaal Lascelles would start in the centre of defence in the absence of Luke
Chambers through suspension [.
