Shit, piss and double bollocks: another injury

The Goon Blog - an Arsenal blog. @ 12:53 PM EST

Desperate times call for desperate measures it seems; van Persie is going to have placenta rubbed on his ankle by a Serbian witch doctor in a bid to recover from injury just that little bit quicker if you didn't already know, he is out for 6 weeks with a bollocksed ligament. Maybe its the baby particles in the placenta that invade his ankle and make everything hunky-dory again.

Pointless friendly puts van Persie out for 3 months

The Goon Blog - an Arsenal blog. @ 05:40 PM EST

So it looks like we have been hurt by the international break once again with van Persie being stretchered off against Italy in a friendly with a pretty serious injury, reports have said he has either cracked his ankle or torn ankle ligaments but I'm told that he has broken his metatarsal.

After having a relatively injury free period over the past year his luck with injuries has taken a turn for the worse again and you have to feel for the guy, he looked in real pain when he was being taken off and I just hope beyond hope the injury isnt as bad as first feared, we should have Theo coming back along with Vela to soften the blow but van Persie has been enjoying the best form of his career this season.

It’s my birthday today

The Goon Blog - an Arsenal blog. @ 03:07 PM EST

...and I would really appreciate it if I had an Arsenal win to enjoy, sadly that does not seem to be the case due to another round of utterly pointless internationals.

There is only one bit of news and I wouldn't really call it news.

Jack Wilshere is looking forward to playing Citeh at Middle Eastlands in the Carling Cup and believes we can go all the way to Wembley, Jack the Hobbit said:

"It will be good to play against Manchester City and I hope they play a full team.

Wolves 1-4 Arsenal: streak continues + Gallas/Bendtner operation & goals

The Goon Blog - an Arsenal blog. @ 02:00 AM EST

So we comfortably dispatched of Wolves in the end, the first 20 minutes or so were a little nervy but Diaby picked up a calf strain bringing Alex Song into the fray, we never looked back as minutes later one of two slightly fortuitous goals was scored.

The final two goals were class though, the first involved a lung busting run from Cesc Fabregas to get on the end of a move, his finish was coolness personified.

AZ obliterated/Kroenke/3 points at Wolves please

The Goon Blog - an Arsenal blog. @ 02:00 AM EST

Another home game, another win, another game with over three goals. Nearly three months into the season and we have not scored less than three goals in a home game in any competition, it shows just how strong we have been at home this season and any team visiting the Grove will be aware of this record and aware of how strong the squad we have is.

Kroenke: Attitude, aspirations and ambitions

The Goon Blog - an Arsenal blog. @ 05:23 PM EST

I have wanted to write a piece about Stan Kroenke for a while now, about a year ago I wrote a story about the ownership of Arsenal just after Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith left the board.

_____________________________________________________________________

Early on Saturday morning I was listening to the World Football Phone In on BBC Five Live and their correspondent for North America was asked about Stan Kroenke what he is like as a guy, what his intentions may be in the future and what we would want to get out of a club like Arsenal.

Arsenal 3-0 Tottenham: Reliant Robin earns his Spurs

The Goon Blog - an Arsenal blog. @ 02:29 AM EST

It looks like we have shut the Spuds up for another few months then with a performance that left even the most hardy Spurs fans noting that they had some way to go to catch up with us.

I had a very good feeling before the game, a feeling I hadn't had since that 5-1 beating we took. Maybe it was confidence or just a sign of what was to come, whatever it was I liked it and enjoyed every second of this North London Derby.

Derby day: It’s time to avenge the 5-1 & 4-4 defeats

The Goon Blog - an Arsenal blog. @ 02:30 AM EST

So the big game is here at last and oh how lovely it would be to give these spuds a damn good mashing, we haven't done so for a while and it would make it rather sweet.

You may think I'm wrong in calling the 4-4 game a defeat, but after getting so close to beating them only to see them haul it back, it felt like a defeat.

We knock Liverpool out – Citeh next round anyone? – Merida’s contract

The Goon Blog - an Arsenal blog. @ 09:00 PM EST

Alright all,

I'm still half dying from Swine Flu here, its horrible I tell you, absolutely bloody horrible. Anyway, it didnt stop me from watching the lads the other night and what a great game it was, I really enjoyed it. It was entertaining and you got that feeling that anything could happen at any time.

Liverpool preview: Vela misses out on a chance but others can shine

The Goon Blog - an Arsenal blog. @ 12:14 PM EST

First up, apologies for my absence over the last few days, I've come down with swine flu and it is not the most pleasant thing under the sun, my skins gone pink and Ive even started oinking too. Its not good.

Anyway tonight we need to get back to winning ways after two draws, it might only be the Carling Cup but at the moment any cup would do for us.

The Goon Blog product review: Arsenal hoodie

The Goon Blog - an Arsenal blog. @ 05:47 PM EST

Its not often I do things like this on the blog but there are some great products out there that should get some wider attention.

The Nike Arsenal hoodie is one item of clothing that will become very handy over the next few months as the winter sets in, so don't freeze your arse off at The Grove when watching the lads play and get one of these from Soccer-Pro.

West Ham: This ain’t gonna be as easy as people think

The Goon Blog - an Arsenal blog. @ 07:44 AM EST

I officially have no voice. It is not very nice and I am resorting to writing insults down and showing them to the intended recipient rather than just shouting it at them. Some people might say its karma, I just call it a bloody annoyance, and a painful one at that.

So we make the short trip to Upton Park today and it has been the scene of many a hardfought game over the past few years and on a few occasions we have come out of it with a big fat 0 points.

It is not a proper Saturday without football – Rosicky + Ed

The Goon Blog - an Arsenal blog. @ 12:30 PM EST

You just can't get that Saturday feeling without football can you? Well, I say without football but there is just no Arsenal today, it should be a crime against humanity if you ask me and when I come to power one day I will make sure that there is Arsenal 24/7, 12 months of the year. I might even make sure there is some Arsenal on that extra day in a leap year.

Team news + AGM

The Goon Blog - an Arsenal blog. @ 02:27 PM EST

First of all, a big happy birthday to Arsene Wenger who has reached the big 6-0. I hope he enjoys his glass of red tonight.

There is some team news ahead of our game on Sunday, Fabianski and Nasri made good comebacks the other night in the reserves but Sunday comes too early for them, Denilson should be back in four weeks and Djourou is out until March at least.
