Liverpool sign £20M Roma midfielder

Liverpool FC confirmed yesterday evening that Alberto Aquilani has successfully completed a medical and agreed a five-year contract with the club. Aquilani cost Liverpool £20million from AS Roma.

The Italian is unlikely to make his Reds debut before October. The player will now continue his rehabilitation from an ankle operation under the guidance of Liverpool's medical team and is expected to be fully fit in approximately four to eight weeks' time.

The Spanish giant, Real Madrid, has prized Xabi Alonso away from Liverpool for a deal worth £30million. Liverpool has confirmed the deal in their official website.

After weeks of negotiations, Liverpool has finally agreed the transfer of Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid. The 27-year old has signed the personal contract worth £3million in a four-year deal.

Liverpool have agreed a fee of around £3.5million for Alvaro Arbeloa to move to Real Madrid. The 26-year-old right-back passed a medical and signed a five-year deal.

One more Spaniard will be joining him soon at Santiago Bernabeu. We wish Arbeloa all the best in his football career with Real Madrid.

Liverpool have agreed a deal with Greek side Panathinaikos for the sale of winger Sebastian Leto.

The Argentine spent last season with rivals Olympiacos after work permit problems prevented him playing for the Reds.

Leto signed for Liverpool in August 2007 after Rafa Benitez beat the likes of Real Betis and River Plate to his signature.
