In a home match the Colorado Rapids could ill afford to lose the team got a 3-2 win over the
expansion Montreal Impact thanks to a Southern wind and atrocious officiating on Saturday
night.
Tied at 2 and down a man with the 61st minute ejection of Tyrone Marshall, the Rapids got the
victory off an 83rd minute free kick that a strong wind kept the ball dancing along the crossbar
until Jaime Castrillon headed it into the back of the net.
University of Denver men's soccer added two players to its 2012 roster, signing Ryan Dodson and
Anees Abdulgasem, head coach Bobby Muuss announced.
Dodson played his freshman season at North Carolina, where he helped the Tar Heels win the 2011
NCAA National Championship. Prior to his time at North Carolina, Dodson was a member of the U.
The Colorado Rapids inability to maintain shape continued to haunt the squad on Saturday as they
dug a two-goal first half deficit before rallying to tie Sporting Kansas City 2-2.
While the second-half heroics with goals from Tyrone Marshall and Kosuke Kimura made it feel
like a win, it wasn't.

Dear Pablo,
Next week will mark the six weeks that you were going to be out with concussion symptoms prior
to re-evaluation from the medical staff. Hopefully the headaches and sleepless nights that haunted
you after the March 10 season opener are gone.
Even if they are gone and you come through the medical evaluation with flying colors, your
decision should be a simple one.

Rapids in Colorado punish the unprepared and the undermanned. On Sunday, the Colorado Rapids
went on the road and did the same as their namesake white water, knocking off a nine-man FC Dallas
squad 2-0.
Jaime Castrillon scored in the 61st minute with a header off a Brian Mullan cross and Martin
Rivero netted his first MLS goal with assists from Mullan and Kamani Hill in the 74th minute.
The Colorado Rapids parlayed one goal into four and turned a tight match with Chivas USA into a
4-0 victory Saturday night at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City.
Kamani Hill got two goals, Jeff Larentowicz buried a penalty kick and rookie Tony Cascio found
his second of the year as the Rapids ended a three-game losing streak.
The Colorado Rapids Women are looking for host families for the 2012 season.
Host families will house Rapids Women players in their homes for the 2012 season.
Most players arrive in mid May and all leave in late July.
Many Colorado Force fans have been host families in the past and have formed close ties with
players.
Two teams struggling in the early going with 3-4-0 records meeting for the chance to step back
into the fray of the Western Conference race should be enough of a plot for the Rapids-Chivas USA
showdown on Saturday.
But no, the subplots abound. Let us count the ways.
1. Possible first sighting of Conor Casey this season.
The Colorado Rapids asked the question of whether it was possible on Saturday night to have a
"good" home loss, and the answer appeared to be a definitive maybe.
The Rapids fell at home to the Los Angeles Galaxy 2-1. The loss was the third in a row for the
Rapids and dropped them into the bottom three in the Western Conference with a 3-4-0 record.
Colorado suffered a second straight shutout loss on the road against an opponent it will see
three times this season.
The Rapids fell to 3-3-0 with a 1-0 loss to the Seattle Sounders. Zach Scott scored in 63rd
minuted off of a corner kick to provide the difference.
The result was fitting for the host and reflective of a game where both teams crafted chances,
but both struggled to get the ball in the back of the net.
Colorado made the first of two trips to Utah and returned with the sort of result that can haunt
a season.
The Rapids fell to Real Salt Lake 2-0 on Saturday night, and looked every bit as toothless as
the score line indicates.
Playing at home, Salt Lake dominated the match, taking the lead in the 20th minute when defender
Tony Beltran picked out Alvaro Saborio.
If the boot of Omar Cummings tells anything about the Colorado Rapids season, then things are
off to a promising start.
Cummings scored in the 58th minute, his second tally in four games this season, as the Rapids
beat the Chicago Fire 2-0 in Commerce City.
With the win, the Rapids improved to 3-1 on the season.
Former Wheat Ridge High School player Reid Hukari has transferred from UCLA to the University of
Denver men's soccer team, head coach Bobby Muuss announced Tuesday.
"We are very excited to have Reid join our program here at the University of Denver this
spring," Muuss said. "In addition to being a tremendous soccer player, he brings a fierce
competitive drive to our program.
No Larentowicz, no Mastroeni, no hope.
Worse fears became bitter reality for the Colorado Rapids on Sunday as the team tried to play
without its midfield stalwarts and fell apart in front of the New York Red Bulls 4-1.
Jeff Larentowicz, the key cog at defensive midfield, had to miss the game after picking up two
yellow cards against the Philadelphia Union one week ago.
