Abidal contracts H1N1 virus, Toure also ill and will miss Bilbao clash

Ahead of Barcelona's match against Athletic Club Bilbao the team was handed another blow going into a very important week for the team. Eric Abidal was diagnosed with the H1N1 virus also known as "swine flu" on top of already being sidelined for up to three weeks with a leg injury.

Ibrahimovic out for Saturday’s match against Athletic Bilbao

Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffered a slight leg strain back on Nov. 7 against Mallorca that kept the striker out of international duty with Sweden this past week. Ibrahimovic began training this week in preparation for Saturday's match on the road against Athletic Club Bilbao.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was Barcelona's big money signing in the summer with Samuel Eto'o and a reported £40 million going in the opposite direction to Inter Milan. Few can doubt that Ibrahimovic has ability and on his day is one of the best forwards in the world, however many have criticized him for his work rate and not everyone was convinced he would cut it in Spain.

Eric Abidal out for three weeks with injury

Barcelona received the bad news that they were dreading today regarding defender Eric Abidal. Team doctors confirmed the left leg injury that Abidal suffered in France's World Cup playoff match against Ireland.

The injury comes at a very bad time with the matches coming up in the next week against Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

Cristiano Ronaldo may be ready in time for El Clasico

Cristiano Ronaldo is recovering from an ankle injury he suffered back in October in a match with his national team side Portugal. The injury will keep him out of Portugal's World Cup play-off matches against Bosnia-Herzegovina.

It was earlier reported that Ronald would not be ready in time for the match against FC Barcelona on November 29 but when talking to reporters today in Madrid he was optimistic.

FC Barcelona come to life in second half to destroy Leonesa 5-0 (7-0 aggr.)

Pep Guardiola fielded a different looking lineup this evening at the Camp Nou against Cultural Leonesa in the second leg of the Copa del Rey. Barcelona was going into the match already up by two goals after routinely pushing aside Leonesa on their home pitch.

The starting front three of Pedro, Bojan and Jeffren put on display the teams younger talent.

FC Barcelona held to a scoreless draw against Rubin Kazan

Though FC Barcelona completely dominated ball posssiesion through the entire match they were unable to capitalize against Rubin Kazan.

In a balmy 25 degrees Fahrenheit Barcelona came out in the first half with revenge on their mind. Having lost 2-1 to Kazan at home just weeks prior Guardiola's men were looking for a win on the road and top spot in group F of the Champions League.

Late goal for Osasuna makes it a tough day for FC Barcelona

It was a hard ending to swallow for FC Barcelona as they battled Osasuna to a scoreless draw late into the second half of the match. Early in the first half the Barcelona defense looked a little off as they were not clearing the ball out of the back field and giving the Osasuna offense too much space to move the ball around.

With a different looking lineup than Barcelona fans are accustomed to, Pep Guardiola and his men visited third divison side Cultural Leonesa. Today's lineup featured Bojan, Gai Assulin and Pedro upfront and early on the kids looked like they were going to have an easy time moving the ball around the Leonesa defense.

Thierry Henry to receive medical clearance for Sundays match against Osasuna

It is expected that Thierry Henry will receive medical clearance this week and will be activated for Sundays league match up against Osasuna.

Henry has been sidelined for just over a month due to a hamstring injury but has been training with the team and looks to be close to match fitness.

The roster features mostly youth players with Lionel Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Gerard Pique, Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Carles Puyol all being rested for this weekends match up at Osasuna.
