Back to some real football this weekend with the return of the Premiership and the arrival of
Wigan at White Hart Lane. It's just a shame we have to wait till Sunday! I'll be at the O2 for the
tennis unfortunately, but I'm hopeful of arriving home to a positive result and lots of goals.
It's another one of those games that on paper, you'd fully expect Tottenham to win.

Spurs have went through a complete rebuilding process of the team, and have spent £150 million
in transfers over the last 16 months meaning that they have out spent the whole of the Premiership,
including the top 4, apart from big spending Manchester City.

With Roman Pavlyuchenko today insisting he must leave Tottenham, it made me think back to
players of years gone by that have arrived with big reputations only to depart before making any
impact whatsoever.
Pavlyuchenko cost £14m just over a year ago, that's serious money in today's market for a
player that isn't English.

So, are we going to bounce back from our lacklustre display against the old enemy or will the
players put in another shocker against Steve Bruce's men?
The defeat against Stoke doesn't worry me. We played well, it was just unfortunate. Even more
unfortunate it came before a big game but I think we would have lost at Arsenal in those
circumstances 99 times out of 100.

Just when Rafa Benitez thought things couldn't get any worse, a study published by Foster's
today reveals the Liverpool manager is officially one of the most worried managers in the
Premiership.
The leading Aussie beer brand analysed the interviews and statements from every Premiership
manager since the beginning of the season using its Ozometer, an algorithm developed specifically
to analyse language and word sequences to determine how worried or carefree a person is.

Painful is the only word I can use to describe having to endure that woeful display. Do the
players not understand the importance of this fixture to the Tottenham fans? Their pathetic efforts
at the Emirates would suggest not.
While we may have been missing some key men through injury and suspension, our squad is meant to
be one of the best in the league.

Firstly credit to Stoke. They work on a shoestring budget in comparison to us and they are
consolidating their position as solid Premier League side. Unfortunately, the result did nothing
for Spurs chances of consolidating their position in the top 4!
I don't think you can criticise Harry's tactics or the Tottenham performance as a whole.

As I do with most home games against any teams outside the top few teams in the Premier League,
I'd expect victory for Spurs against Stoke. Tony Pulis has done wonders firstly to get his club
into the league and secondly, turning them into a formidable top flight side.
While Stoke are renowned for their home form, they have also been a lot more solid on the road
this season than they were last.

Harry Redknapp gave Jermain Defoe a dressing down in front of his team mates after his sending
off against Pompey on Saturday. Nothing wrong with that as far as I'm concerned, especially when he
already warned him to cool it at half time.
Redknapp said: "Yes. He's sorry for what's done.

While they have some very average players (including a few of our cast offs), almost anything
can happen in tomorrow's game against Portsmouth. Although Harry might get some love from his old
fans, I'd expect Spurs to be on the receiving end of a seriously hostile reception.
The Portsmouth fans could really carry their players through 90mins and with their win at
Wolves, the return of Avram Grant and the arrival of Ali Al Faraj, the players and the club as a
whole are bound to be in a much more positive frame of mind than they were a few weeks ago.

It doesn't look as though Peter Crouch's lack of games for Tottenham is affecting his World Cup
chances an awful lot. Capello is starting the big man against Belarus tonight alongside Gabriel
Agbonlahor in the absence of Wayne Rooney.
I've always expected Crouch to be in Capello's World Cup squad because he gives the Italian
options.

Another blank weekend with no Premier League action until the 17th but as is normally the case
with Spurs, there is still plenty of off field drama to keep us ‘entertained' for want of a
better word.
The current intelligence doing the rounds is that Harry was questioned by the fuzz for four
hours on Tuesday and bailed until the 21st.

Toughie. I wouldn't fancy Kevin Davies big frame in my face for ninety minutes and I doubt
Michael Dawson will either. This is the sort of game we'd get turned over in pre Harry. Even with
him last season they bashed us up at the Reebok but he's had time to make the side a bit more
resilient since then.

After seven games, things all look very rosy. I certainly would have taken 15pts and 4th place
in the table at this stage if you had asked me at the start of the season. We can't stop scoring
and our only defeats have been to arguably the best two sides in the country. We are certainly
improving and very much going the right way under Harry but for me there are still five teams in
the league that are better than us and I don't see what we can do about that.

I know as soon as I dare to mention Sol Campbell's name, hundreds of people get straight on the
comments to jump to his defence, but the bloke is seriously unbalanced. He's gone from one of the
best defenders in the country to one of the biggest jokes in a relatively short space of time. I
doubt he'd sign for Arsenal if he could have his time again; it all started going wrong from that
point!
