Los Angeles is on a 4 game winning streak and the get Beckham back too.
After taking the title from Houston, LA won their next two games 1-0 also. Over New England and
then Chivas USA. Tonight they dismantled the NY Red Bulls, in NY, 3-1 on the return of David
Beckham. Next week, July 25th, they travel to Kansas City.

Ok, I went on vacation before FCD and Houston played... Last time I wrote it was about the fact
that Dallas can't seem to figure out how to hang onto the title past the 2nd game. Well. Again they
didn't. They lost to Houston 3-1 on the 13th. So we'll go back to waiting for FCD to perform
well.
The next week Houston drew Real Salt Lake 1-1.

Kenny Cooper scored in the 87th, just 5 minutes after the Quakes took the lead, to force a 2-2 draw
at home for FC Dallas. They retain the title with the draw and will face, at home, the Houston
Dynamo next Saturday.
FCD will be looking to break a record of sorts. If they can get a draw or win then it will be the
first time that Dallas has not lost after a 1 game title reign.

The Fire remained undefeated on the MLS season with two road wins. A 1-0 victory in NY on a strike
by Chris Rolfe in the 45th minute. Then last Thursday Chicago came from behind to defeat the top
team in MLS, Chivas USA. The Fire scored two late goals, including a 96th(yes, ninety-sixth) minute
penalty for the win.

Chicago had two second half goals to defeat TFC at BMO Field last week and take their 18th title.
They are now tied with New York for the most UMLSCC titles.
New York just happens to be Chicago's next opponent. Overall the Fire have dominated NY. They lead
the series with a 7-2-1 record (WDL).

The two teams were involved in a back and forth game that saw four second half goals and a point
saving PK for DC in the 2nd minute of extratime. The final was 3-3 and saw two leads vanish in a
six minute span. Dwayne DeRosario had two goals for TFC as the Reds retained the title in DC. This
was only the 5th time a 3-3 game had happened.

The 1-1 draw say Frei of TFC make 7 saves as Columbus controlled the match. The Crew's Ekpo scored
in the 54th but then Columbus saw their lead go away just 10 minutes later when Barrett
equalized.
Next Toronto travel to Washington DC to defend against United. Going into the game both teams are
top of the table in MLS East.

I didn't see the game. But then I don't see most of them. I did see the highlight of Dichio's goal
- it was very nice.
Toronto FC defeated KC 1-0 and are now 3-0-0 when challenging at home. TFC have their 4th
title.
Toronto will host Columbus next Saturday. The teams have met just two times in UMLSCC history.

Two minutes into the match Herculez Gomez was taken down in the box by defender Carlos Johnson who
was shown a straight red. Claudio Lopez converted the PK and the Wizards went on to win 1-0 over 10
man Red Bull NY. Kansas City pretty much dominated and controlled the match but could not muster
any more goals.

Brian McBride and the Chicago Fire owned the Wizards for the better part of the first 75 minutes.
Chicago should have been up by more than just a 2-0 score before Josh Wolff put two goals in the
net in the 78th and 89th ... and also Kevin Hartman made some spectacular saves to keep the Fire at
just two.

Kansas City held onto their title on the road, they are 6-5-5 now on the road with the title, after
a 1-0 win against 10 man Seattle. The Sounders lost keeper Keller to a handball infraction near the
30th minute. The Wizard's Davy Arnaud blasted home a goal in the 80th.
2006 was the last time that KC had the title for more than 1 game.

San Jose became the latest team to lose thier first title defense. It came at Kansas City in the
form of a 0-2 loss. KC got goals from defender Aaron Hohlbein and forward Claudio Lopez. Kansas
City has now won the UMLSCC 9 times. Nine is the fewest among teams that are still around since at
least 1998 and only half as many reigns as New York.

Houston Dynamo drew the MLS Champions Columbus Crew at Robertson Stadium in week 1 to retain the
UMLSCC. Ching scored in the 53rd to take the lead for Houston. The Crew pulled it back on the 81st
on a goal from Schelotto.br /br /So, that was week 1. In week two on the 28th, Houston traveled to
San Jose to play the Earthquakes for the second time.

The first 2009 UMLSCC matchup is between the two most recent MLS Cup Champions. Houston will host
the Columbus Crew on FSC on March 21st at home.
This will be the third game for the Crew in Houston. The Dynamo have drawn and won the two
matchups. Including games in San Jose the Crew won one and the other was a draw.

CD Chivas USA got a 90th minute goal at home to draw Houston 1-1 in the last UMLSCC game for 2008.
Houston had led since the 52nd on a De Rosario penalty kick which saw Dan Kennedy ejected for
denying a goal scoring opportunity. The goal for Chivas came from Jim Curtin.
Exciting end to a game but Houston ends the season as the UMLSCC.
