I arrived tonight in Vancouver, B.C., for the FIFA/CONCACAF Conference on the FIFA Women's World
Cup in Germany 2011. After looking through my brochure, I'm excited to see that many coaches,
instructors and staff from FIFA projects I've worked on previously, and many of my fellow
Americans, will be here.
What would the NSCAA Convention be without the added excitement (and pressure) of speaking? For
the second year in a row, my good friend and peer Ryan Knapp and I presented together. Ryan and I
met in 2009 at Tweet Blowing the Whistle on Social Media and have bantered back and forth on all
things digital and social media since.
The 2012 NSCAA Convention could once again be called: The busiest week of my life. Here's the
play-by-play, through a few select photos from the camera on my iPhone. I've posted the photos in
chronological order, enjoy!

Arrived in Kansas City and made my way over to the Kansas City Convention Center to check things
out.
After Twitter's recent compilation of Twitter Stories, the good folks at MLSsoccer.com took a
moment to reflect on the tremendous impact this social medium has had on Major League Soccer and
the American soccer experience. We posted a few of our favorites to the site in December, which you
can see here.
I'm currently running for Secretary of the NSCAA. The election winner will be announced at the
annual business meeting at the NSCAA Convention in Kansas City on Friday, Jan. 13, so as we're
getting closer to the event, I thought it would be good to share my answers to the 12 questions the
NSCAA asks each candidate to file.
MLS Cup was this past Sunday, November 20, 2011. This post will describe how we used The
Grid to help organize our MLS Cup social media plan. My goal in sharing this is to paint a
picture and share a tool that I find effective, rather than delve into details about the campaign,
so this is very top-level.
42 hours of flight time for 5 days of work, and totally worth it. I'm honored to have been the
Communications and Marketing instructor for the FIFA Women's Com-Unity Seminar in Tanzania in
October 2011.
FIFA conducts these seminars to bring together government officials, community leaders,
non-government organizations, men's and women's football clubs, media partners and marketing
sponsors in an effort to develop girls' and women's soccer around the world.
I flew to Toronto this week to represent MLS on the Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE)
Social Media Panel as part of their 2011 Sponsorship Marketing Summit. MLSE hosted the event at the
Air Canada Center – which is where the Maple Leafs play of course. Being in a hardcore hockey
town, in their beloved hockey stadium, right on the hockey ice was simply Canada-tastic!
The FIFA and JFF staff on the final day of the FIFA Women's Com-Unity Seminar in Kingston,
Jamaica.
I was invited to serve as the Communications Instructor for the FIFA Women's Com-Unity Seminar
in Kingston, Jamaica, last week. It was an incredibly special opportunity for which I am grateful
to many people for making happen.

Since I started with Major League Soccer in the spring, we've been working to bring value to our
fans, while shining a spotlight on the MLS fan experience, through our social media outlets
Facebook.com/MLS, Twitter.com/MLS, YouTube.com/MLS and Foursquare.com/MLS. We also launched a new
fans section on the league site at MLSsoccer.
Why are all my URLs returning 404 errors?
Written yesterday. Computer died. Posting today.
Our media panel took center stage at the Women's Football Symposium today, and it's impossible
to recap the entire session mainly because I was so high on adrenaline the entire time that I'm
still trying to process it all. But with a quick reaction, here are five things I learned.
I've been busy at work on the tweets-machine today posting updates throughtout the FIFA Women's
Football Symposium. So, since I've been on the computer for the last 8 hours tapping away, I
thought it would be both timely (and time-saving if I'm really honest) to post my twitter stream
here, knowing all the world may not be following me.
This is my second day in Frankfurt for the 2011 Women's Football Symposium (which begins tomorrow)
and Women's World Cup Final (on Sunday). It's been pretty low key so far and has given me a chance
to catch up on time zones and mingle about.
Now I know I don't have the on-camera eloquence of my friend Emma Hayes (who called the game for
Eurosport last night in England), or the TV personality of Fox Soccer Channel's Mark Rogondino (who
used to do all the WPS broadcasts and is now on the MLS tour of duty), so getting ready for my
video intro this morning put me to task.
