And the first leg of the MLS Cup Playoffs tells us...
Not much.
Two one-goal winners. Two one-goal losers. And two games ending in draws. At this point it's
still looking wide open.
This weekend's results:
Seattle 0-0 Houston
RSL 1-0 Columbus
NE 2-1 Chicago
Chivas 2-2 Galaxy

The Offside has a very healthy number of American readers, and many fine MLS team blogs. The
Offside does not have an MLS blog right now. So we're looking for someone to cover the
ins, outs and crazies of Major League Soccer right here on this page.

I found this gem posted on The Offside Rules, where the always-entertaining Shawn Francis
unearthed a highlight video from 1997 MLS. What makes this great are three things: the first, that
John Harkes and Eric Wynalda are introducing it, the second, that they seem like they're on
something, and the third is that Steve Ralston is involved in one of the highlights.

The first full weekend of action means that change is afoot in the weekly MLS Power Rankings.
For some, it's more of the same, as a lot of clubs around the league have held serve with their
performances.
Gold Cup absences continue to be the story, as a number of clubs will be missing top players

games played over the last 10 days, give or take. As a result, not much to change in the Power
Rankings.
The fun for numerous coaches continues as the schedule starts to clog up. Between SuperLiga,

Happy Monday to everyone. As all of you who regularly check this space have noticed, there was
no preview/recap up.
The reason for that? I've moved. MLS Offside will be changing shape a little, as the nuances of
life dictate the inability to write for free all the time. For those of you who care, I'm in the
process of trying to establish myself as part of the freelance world, writing for actual money.

With the SuperLiga now in full swing, there weren't a lot of changes to the Power Rankings.
Colorado is the team on the rise, coming off a rather dominating win against D.C. United. It's
impossible to punish teams like Chicago, New England, and Kansas City because they are dormant in
the league.
The bottom saw some movement, as both Dallas and San Jose dusted off the win column at home to
score rare victories.

Not as much to glean over on a Monday morning after a light serving of play on Saturday. The
Superliga provided some quality entertainment on the side, especially with Brian McBride's
scintillating finish for the Fire.
Surveying the rest of league play, a couple of draws, maddening red cards and poor defending
returned to mar the weekend.
