The Sin: Lust is one sin that I have had difficulty linking to one's soccer ability. After all, some of the greatest players in recent world history (including both Ronaldos and Mr. Rooney) and from the past (George Best, Eusebio) were lusty lads.

Two things to talk about this morning that affect my entire sports weekend. First, let me say that I am very glad that my wife (who is going on a mission trip to a far-off land for about a week) is not flying through France or Ireland to get there because right now someone is probably screaming their head off in the streets of Ireland.

The LA Galaxy have pulled out of a post-season tour of Germany that would have seen them play friendlies against Kaiserslautern and Schalke. The Galaxy cancelled the tour due to "a lack of communication and performance" by the promoter IMC Group.

The club said in a statement:

"Unfortunately, IMC Group Inc has not performed their obligations of the agreement thus far, nor do we have faith that they will be able to do so in the future.

Now that we have the official list of thd 32 nations taking part in next summers World Cup Finals, all eyes are on the draw December 4th and how teams will be seeded for that draw.

There will be eight groups of four teams, so FIFA needs to split the 32 countries into 4 categories. According to FIFA's regulations:

"The FIFA Organising Committee forms groups for the final competition by seeding and drawing lots whilst taking sports and geographic factors into consideration, as far as possible.

The FAI (Ireland's ruling Soccer organization) has demanded a reply of their match in which they lost to France yesterday. All of this comes over more bad calls/non-calls by officials and has even been brought to light by a French player who was involved in the incident.Â

I want to make clear that I am writing with the question.

The Sin: Gluttony is one of the most digusting sins, and Maradona exemplifies it in the pic at left. Now that we know the teams that will be making it to South Africa for the World Cup finals, i think its time we all took the bold step of picking our favorites to win the tournament. I know many of you might say that the right time to do this will be after the group stage draw that will happen in about two weeks time on the 4th of December.

This weekends MLS Cup final in Seattle is David Beckham's biggest game in the U.S. So how is Becks preparing for the game? In a cast of course!

I was shocked when I saw this picture from Splash News of Beckham with a cast on his foot, a la Tom Brady before his last SuperBowl game. And we all know how that turned out for Brady.

UEFA and FIFA both got their wishes tonight. France and Portugal both will be in South Africa next summer. But the Republic of Ireland were left fuming as Thierry Henry's handball earned France a 1-1 draw and a trip to South Africa.

France had won the first leg 1-0 in Dublin on Saturday, but Ireland when Robbie Keane scored just after the half-hour mark at the Stade de France, the tie was level.

At 2:45 today the Portuguese National Team (minus Cristiano Ronaldo) will square off against the Bosnians to defend their 1 goal aggregate advantage over the boys from the shores of the Adriatic. This is an interesting match because everyone on earth expects Portugal to be in the World Cup, but I think the Bosnians have other ideas.

The Sin: According to Gordon Gekko (the fictional junk bond king played by Michael Douglas in Oliver Stone's inimitable Wall Street), "Greed is good." Well, according to the Bible (and common sense), it ain't very good at all. In fact, Proverbs 15:27 states that "he that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house.

This is not a hoax. Atletico Madrid coach Quique Sanchez Flores has Contracted the dreaded Swine Flu virus. According to his clubs website, the former Valencia Coach was feeling a little bit under the weather on Monday and subsequent tests that were carried out to check if he was suffering from the common cold came back negative.

Major League Soccer announced its all-star team today and a certain England midfielder was missing from the lineup.

The MLS all-stars (Best XI) are chosen by the media, MLS players, MLS coaches and general managers.

Chivas USA goalkeeper Zach Thornton earned his second career Best XI nod.

The Sin: When I was a kid, I didn't know Spielberg's The Goonies was one of the weirdest movies ever. I mean, the bad guys literally keep their "special" kin chained in the basement where he has absolutely nothing to do. As he was a pretty idle guy, it was fitting they named him Sloth.

Ladies and gentlemen of America, I don't know you. I don't know what you like or what you dislike. I have to assume you enjoy things that are fun and exciting. I also have to assume you hate things that are boring and dull. Thus, I just don't understand why you are not eating up the 2009 MLS Playoffs.
