Toseland's Tumble Doesn't Stop Him Being Top

The Diary of a Tractor Girl @ 03:08 PM EST
Ever since England were knocked out of Euro 2008 I've been racking my brains for something to do while Town are on their summer break...
This weekend I think I found a replacement, the Moto GP.
I've been watching it for a while now, every Sunday I pop on BBC 2 and wait for Suzi Perry to take me through the race track. Click to continue reading...

Legalisation: The Right Solution To Prostitution?

The Diary of a Tractor Girl @ 05:35 PM EST
Eighteen months ago two young girls were reported missing by their worried families.

They were Tania Nicholl and Gemma Adams, sex workers from Ipswich.

In the following month their bodies and the bodies of three girls like them were found, strangled and dumped.

It's a Mann's World

The Diary of a Tractor Girl @ 03:27 PM EST
This weekend I went to Silverstone to support a local World Renault Series driver...

Pippa Mann is from Ipswich, she's 23 and she's the only woman driver in the league that feeds into the Formula One championship.

I covered the race for Town 102 because she's a local girl. Click to continue reading...

Becoming a Sports Journalist....The Next Chapter

The Diary of a Tractor Girl @ 09:48 AM EST
This Tractor Girl has been away from the scene a little, but she's back for good now!
I have been completing the 'TV News' module of my MA, as part of which I have produced some bulletins for our three weekly shows on 'Westminster News'.
The best and most popular pieces of work have been used for our Website Westminster News Online. Click to continue reading...

Captain Fantastic

The Diary of a Tractor Girl @ 04:36 PM EST
I was trying to think today of all the Ipswich Town Captain's I have seen in my lifetime.
Of course there's Mattie Holland...
Our very own Jim Magilton...
Legwinski, Wilnis and Naylor in recent years...
And now Jason De Vos. Click to continue reading...

Dream Come True

The Diary of a Tractor Girl @ 04:01 PM EST
Ever had one of those weeks where you just feel like things could be working out just perfectly?
This week I began a four week work placement at Town 102 Radio, in Ipswich.
Everybody has said to me: 'Wow you'll be covering the Prostitute Murders Court Case'. Click to continue reading...

Town to illuminate Blackpool

The Diary of a Tractor Girl @ 09:19 AM EST
As part of my placement with Town 102 I have finally been given the chance to visit Portman Road in the guise of a Journalist.
Yesterday morning I battled through the poor weather traffic on the A14 to attend the weekly Ipswich Town Press Conference.
I was so nervous. Click to continue reading...

Spotlight on Ipswich

The Diary of a Tractor Girl @ 04:20 PM EST
I have been a bit distressed this week to see my rolling news board on this page has been filled with stories of Steve Wright.
The trial of the man accused of killing five prostitutes began on Monday and every news department in the country appears to have moved into Ipswich. Click to continue reading...

Bright spark on the field

The Diary of a Tractor Girl @ 04:57 PM EST
Danny Haynes showed the Portman Road crowd why he has made eight starts in the last nine games.
The youngster has previously impressed Ipswich Town fans, and indeed many others around the country but has found it hard to shake the 'Super - sub' label.
He told the website that he believes this is down to the tactics he has had to learn from his new playing position. Click to continue reading...

New Year, New Leaf?

The Diary of a Tractor Girl @ 06:15 PM EST
I woke up on Wednesday morning worn out from working at a nightclub on New Years Eve, and ever so slightly hungover from the champagne.
The prospect of West Brom at home did not encourage me to get out of bed!
Since Charlton away we have drawn at home to Scunthorpe and Burnley, the latter being the most dismal game I have seen in long while, and lost away in two equally appalling performances at Leicester and Coventry. Click to continue reading...

BBC Honours Our Bobby

The Diary of a Tractor Girl @ 04:47 PM EST
Congratulations to Sir Bobby Robson who was given the BBC Sports Personality of the Year, 'Life-Time Achievement' Award.
Sir Bobby made a moving 10 minute speech tonight after receiving the award - with specific mention to his old club Ipswich Town.
David Sheepshanks and Jim Magilton were there to support the ex-manager and the EADT have released their report on the event. Click to continue reading...

There's only one Mattie Holland...

The Diary of a Tractor Girl @ 01:27 PM EST
I have wanted to go to the Valley for years... four years to be precise... because that was when my favourite ever player moved there - Matt Holland
As one of the Chamionship to Premiership 'yo-yo teams' I have always respected Charlton Athletic and had been looking forward to travelling to South London for a long time. Click to continue reading...

Good Night Southampton

The Diary of a Tractor Girl @ 01:32 PM EST
Attending evening matches has got to be my favourite past time, the atmosphere is something truly special.
Like going on a school trip or waking up on Christmas morning, you know its not something you get to do every day and so you treasure it.
Saturday's attract a much larger crowd and so on a Tuesday you get the feeling that those who have made it have made an extra special effort. Click to continue reading...

Need a bit of Magic

The Diary of a Tractor Girl @ 11:04 AM EST
If you'd have been a fly-on-the-wall of my SU bar on Wednesday night you would have heard me declaring that the story would be entirely different if Jim Magilton were England manager.
Magic would not have kept De Vos out of the team, he would not have played Garvan if his previous performances had been bad and he would not have given Andrew Plummer a place if Supple was available. Click to continue reading...

International Blues

The Diary of a Tractor Girl @ 06:11 AM EST
The sports pages have been full this week of statistics on foreign players in the English Football league.
Arsenal, a team who used to be known for its youth training, fielded a completely non-english squad. Seeing as they are top of the Premiership it is a telling statistic of the direction in which the league is moving. Click to continue reading...
