Republik Of Mancunia @ 03:11 PM EST

Sir Alex Ferguson reckons the reason behind the delay in Owen Hargreaves' return is the player's lacking confidence after over a year without football.

"He is training very well," Ferguson said. "It is more of a confidence thing for the lad to come back into real full training with us.

Phillip Neville’s Still A Red… Who Hates City And Mocks Blue Ketchup

Republik Of Mancunia @ 04:36 PM EST

When Everton put United out of the FA Cup on penalties last season, Phil Neville stood with his arms folded looking away as his team mates raced forward in celebration. Not the behaviour you'd expect from an Everton captain, but certainly the behaviour you'd expect from a born and bred red.

Scholes: I Hope Fergie Stays For A Long Time

Republik Of Mancunia @ 01:59 PM EST

Paul Scholes is hoping Sir Alex Ferguson doesn't retire any time soon as he believes having the stability of one manager can ensure silverware.

Former Manchester United goalkeeping coach, Tony Coton, has revealed that Tom Heaton is looking for a move away from the club this January, ahead of his contract running out in the summer.

And The Scousers’ Obsession Continues…

Republik Of Mancunia @ 07:02 AM EST

Liverpool's European Cup win in 2005 was one of the most incredible moments in their history. It stands to reason that somebody would make a film about it and I suppose it also makes sense they wouldn't be able to do so without including United.

Fifteen Minutes That Shook The World had its premiere on Monday night, attended by Jamie Carragher, Steven Gerrard and Rafael Benitez.

PICTURES: New United Banners

Republik Of Mancunia @ 05:30 AM EST

After some less than impressive banners from SEF of late, it looks as though there's a good selection on offer to vote for this time around. The banner will cost around £650 to make and only paying members of SEF can have their say.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Jeff Winter On His Favourite United Game, His Mistakes And Ferguson

Republik Of Mancunia @ 04:30 AM EST

Jeff Winter has been causing a bit of a fuss of late with his seemingly totally biased and negative opinions against our manager.

No manager has ever been given a touchline ban for comments he made about a referee but Winter went as far as claiming Ferguson should have been given a FIFA stadium ban!

Simpson: United Is My Club… But I’d Sign For Newcastle

Republik Of Mancunia @ 05:18 PM EST

Danny Simpson left Manchester United under a bit of a cloud after mistakes in his personal life saw Sir Alex Ferguson ship him out to Blackburn Rovers. The move was supposed to be as a favour to Paul Ince but Danny struggled to get in the team and the move became a bit of a waste of time.

Simpson is enjoying himself a lot more at Newcastle though and reckons he would sign for them if he was asked in January or at the end of the season.

Republik Of Mancunia @ 01:55 PM EST

Ben Foster was again chosen to play for England this weekend but is disappointed not to get any outings for his club of late.

"It's a weird one," said Foster. "I am third choice for United yet I am playing for my country. It is very disheartening to not even be on the bench at United.

Fergie Wants To Spend In January… But Who On?

Republik Of Mancunia @ 09:36 AM EST

"I would like to do business, but only if the prices are right and that can be a problem in January," Ferguson said today.

We have been 'warned off' Carlton Cole after reports in the papers reckoned we were ready to part with £20m for the Chelsea reject. Don't get me wrong, he's doing a good job for West Ham this season but Darren Bent is having a better time at Sunderland.

Rooney: I’m Proud I’ve Captained My Country

Republik Of Mancunia @ 08:08 AM EST

Wayne Rooney was England captain during their 1-0 defeat to Brazil yesterday, something he never thought would happen.

With captain and vice-captain, John Terry and Rio Ferdinand, both out injured, Fabio Capello trusted Rooney with the responsibility.

"I remember the best players in the world Pele, Cruyff, Beckenbauer, Platini were captains, no?
