Will the young Belgian defender make an impact at T'Reebok?
News broke on Ye Olde Twitter this morning that Manchester City youngster Dedryck Boyata will
make a move to the Reebok for the remainder of the 2011/2012 season. Boyata's season long loan deal
will allow the Trotters more options at center back, especially if Gary Cahill were to get a move
to one of the many rumored suitors for him.
The cup season is upon us once again as Bolton Wanderers open the Carling Cup against
Macclesfield Town at the Reebok. The Silkmen of League Two downed Hull City by a score of 2-0 to
reach the second round. Bolton will look to do better than they did last year when they were ousted
by Burnley in the third round.
It's that time of the year again when the doubters come out and accuse Kevin Davies of being
old, fat, slow, or past it. A scathing blog post emerged this morning with claims written by an
idiot who quite clearly knows nothing about our beloved Bolton Wanderers.
Week 2 of the Premiership has arrived, although it is no less exciting. This weekend Manchester
City travel to the Reebok, in our first (of many) Northwest derbies of the season. This has been
billed as a top of the table clash, which is technically true as City were the only other club to
win by more than a 1 goal margin, and they also smashed 4 unanswered goals past new promoted
opponents.
Because he's definitely not at the Reebok. It turns out that our poor Turkish delight (yes, I
will continue calling him that) is still in Dusseldorf attempting to work out his permit. I
originally read that the paperwork would go through Tuesday, but it now appears that Tuncay just
had his appointment on Tuesday and that "it is normally a four or five day turnaround with the
embassy".
Well, I have good news and I have bad news. The good news is that we are actually making bids on
real, live players who might consider playing for Bolton. The bad news is that we're getting
rejected. Ally McCoist, manager of Glasgow Rangers has confirmed that Bolton made a £400k bid for
20 year old Gregg Wylde.
Do you hear that? That's the sound of Premiership football (with the exception of Spurs-Everton)
rumbling closer. While we haven't been exactly starved for footy this summer (Womens World Cup,
Copa America, U21 Euro's etc) there is nothing like the Prem. Tomorrow the Trotters usher in the
new season with a trip to new boys, QPR.
Some silverware outside of a preseason trophy would be nice.
With the new season comes the first chance at silverware for Bolton Wanderers. The Carling Cup
campaign will start on August 22nd at the Reebok as the Trotters have been handed a tie with
Macclesfield Town FC. The Silkmen, who currently reside in League Two, defeated Hull City by a
scoreline of 2-0.
Will Ivan Klasnic break out and earn a starting job?
Top Scorer: Ivan Klasnic I struggled with this category. Our shortage of strikers made it so there was no obvious option. In
the end I went with Klasnic for several reasons. He's scored 5 times in preseason, which will build
up his confidence.
Coyle's new signing, whoever that is, will be the star of the season
Top Scorer: Whichever striker Owen Coyle signs I can't see any of our current attacking options (Kevin Davies, Ivan Klasnic, or Robbie Blake)
making a serious splash in the goals scored column. Coyle has said that he won't give up his bid to
sign a new attacking player and we know that our manager has the ability to turn whatever misfiring
young striker (cough Sturridge cough) he gets on the cheap into a goal scoring machine.
Doesn't that just feel good to say? Tuncay has undergone a medical with Bolton Wanderers and the
signing is due to be announced at any point. There are no official word on terms of the deal yet
but what we can gather is a year long loan from Wolfsburg of the Bundesliga with an option to make
the move permanent that's in the region of £3 million.
