Updated my list of MLS Supporters Club....true I left some off, so if you know any that I'm not
reppin' please let me know.
Thankful list:
1. The FIRE will have one more fan next year (my newborn son or daughter).
2. The league finally got it's Beckham Cup. After all, they had to deal with quite a bit of hubris
to get to that point.
- As you know, I'm a huge supporter of MLS fan clubs (with a special affinity for Chicago's
Section 8). Here's a great article from ESPN on the rise of the MLS fan clubs. I've also updated
the fan club links on the main page.
- Tell me if this sounds familiar, MLS based US defensive midfielder loses head, acts out, gets
sent off and puts team in bad position.
I love the NFL and I'm happy that its back and that my beloved Bengals are amazingly 1-0, but the
real show is tomorrow on Fox Soccer Channel, where the stakes top Week 1 in the NFL!
CONCACAF Champions League Showdown: USA V. Mexico
8PM EST - The Galaxy travel to Morelia to try to keep MLS perfect record in Mexico entact (I have
to use it while we got it!
A.On Facebook, Fox Soccer just asked "What EPL stadium would you most like to visit?" My answer,
Craven Cottage of course. A sampling of some other answers:
1. Ibrox
2. Wembley Stadium
3. Estadio De Luz
Granted, Facebook is not my go to source for soccer knowledge, but come on people!
You may have noticed that Freddie Ljungberg has transferred to Celtic. Depending on his form this
could really wind up being the final stage of a watershed move for MLS.
If Freddie can be a strong contributor to Celtic, it will kick open the door for players unwilling
to accept transfers to Bottom 10 or Second Division (or lower teams) and rather accept transfers
for DP money stateside regardless of age with the hopes of rebuilding their careers, cashing in and
returning to former glories.
I'm just throwing this update out there as I figured I'd have the MLS news market cornered
today.
A couple of things on my mind since my last post (three years ago...).
1. I think it is safe to say that the 2010 MLSCup was a disaster:
- Ratings
- Actual Attendance
- Climate
2.
MLS Game of the Week
Chicago FIRE 5 - NYRB 1
The Bulls game into match riding a nice unbeaten streak, while
the FIRE were still smarting from dropping just their second match of the year. What a difference
90 minutes makes! Again on the edge of a benching the maddening Chad Barrett completes the brace
while DP Blanco, showed DP Reyna what it's like to actually earn your paycheck with a goal and two
assists.
The Snob is Not Dead
Well, I'm sure many of you are upset that I haven't been helping you lose your money with my pics
for the week, so I'll throw out this one.
Crew over United - Take the surprising Crew to ambush a confused United squad at RFK.
Full scale Snob blogs will return in the near term.
Quick congrats to the Dynamo for their back to back championships. Thanks for again proving that
Steve Nichol's defensive take on EPL football just doesn't cut it in this league at the highest
level and that attractive football will rule the day! But enough on this, we got a team to
stock.
EXPANSION DRAFT SPECIAL
Some tremendous quality available here, but I see Yallop tending to get players the have either:
trade value, played for Yallop, MLS experience or significant upside.
Return of the Snob
Well, the new grounds are tidy and we've even upgraded to a laptop around here!
MLS CUP
The Revs made it to the cop (again) by, how else; going through the FIRE (again). More on that
later. The Dynamo arrive in DC on the backs of 60,000+ screaming fans that cheered them on to the
Final.

FIRE v. United – FIRE pay for their midweek foolishness with a devastating loss.
Crew v. Revs – Not the place to get on track. Revs roll.
Wizards v. Flagship – Two teams looking for some mo' heading to the playoffs.
Thanks for the patience – The Snob is still preparing the new grounds to play to the teams
strength. In the meantime, please enjoy this training session.

US Open Cup
Congrats to the Revs for finally getting a result out of PHP when it counted. Unfortunately, no one
knows about the tournament they won thanks to the continues poor promotional efforts of the folks
behind the Open Cup.

Superliga Final
Well its been about twelve hours since I finished watching the Superliga final and I'm still in
disbelief. That sure looked and sounded like more than 12,500 didn't it? The MLS side fought
valiantly, but were outlasted in sudden death penalty shootout. This game will be remembered for
Miguel Calero's save on Landon in the fifth frame of the shootout, but the match was peppered with
moments and amazing saves by both keepers.
Apologies to loyal readers, but the column will be delayed a day and shorted due to FC Soccersnob's
Pitch Relocation Efforts which will be more Chicago-style than San Jose if you know what I
mean.
SuperLiga
It all comes down to this. The worst team in MLS getting pounded into Bolivia by a Mexican club.
Really, would anyone feel that less confident in the American entry if RSL donned Galaxy jerseys
tonight?

The Tipping Point
Please tell me that someone got a picture of Don Garber around 11PM EST on Saturday. At that point,
the smallest crowd of the four MLS games played Saturday was 18,913 in Salt Lake City. Columbus had
drawn nearly 22k and UFC sold-out BMO (pronounced Bee-Mo, Rob Stone) field again.
