Considering today's events, it seems like as good a time as any to make this OFFISCHYUL:
I'm retiring from the blog business. Sold out to The Man. Been bought out. Pulling a Michael Scott.
Whatever.
It's been in the back of my mind for a while, as some of you well know. And I think it was fairly
evident -- I wasn't writing very often and when I did, it was mostly pretty bad.
Clearly, someone's comment volume is down and needed to stir up a little interblog shit to get
things going again. Works every time, I guess.
The irony is outstanding, however. Considering that the author of said blog has made thinly-veiled
inferences to the likes of the Zone Girls being slutty in the past.

Well, the season's here, I guess, even though it's a little weird that it's starting during the
throes of March Madness and Other Important NCAA Sporting Seasons That People Freak Out About When
I Mention Them On My Blog. At least MLS waited until after the vernal equinox to start, right?
Anyway, WVHooligan has a nice RSL preview up today.

Rasmussen serves up a not-so-illustrious history of RSL here. Most of the memories may not be fun
to relive, but it's a well-written article and avoids the obnoxious, misogynistic "soccer is for
(insert term for female genitalia here)" tone that many Sports Guys are so fond of.
So, by now, you all know that RSL has a new president -- Bill Manning, formerly of the Philadelphia
Eagles, Houston Rockets, Tampa Bay Mutiny, Minnesota Thunder, Long Island Rough Riders (hee!), and
the CISL. It even made SI.com and everything.
My first reaction was to go, "Huh. This guy's had more jobs than I've had!
It's Spring Break. Woooooo, party, blah blah blah. This means that nobody is around this week,
meaning that I could theoretically dance along to Yo Gabba Gabba clips on YouTube all day and
nobody would notice. Or I could wander over to RSL's practice. It's sixes, really, although I'm
leaning toward D.
I went by the stadium yesterday, and right now, with all of the white and the beams, it sort of
looks like the roller coaster at Lagoon. You know, the really old white one that you're afraid is
going to kill you. Or am I the only neurotic one that thinks that way?
Anyway. RSL played more friendlies in Argentina, the US is en route to another wildly successful
Olympic qualifying competition, and I'm still feeling apathetic about all of it.
I meant to post this yesterday, but I'm still kind of in mourning over The Wire (hey, at least one
of my favorite characters made it to the end of the series alive! Yay Bubbles!).
Generation Adidas has been a subject of much discussion among RSL fans recently, largely due to the
Great Jamie Watson Fiasco of 2007.
Is it possible to go senile at the age of 30? Just curious...
Anyway, there were a lot of RSL happenings this week (controversial friendlies, Real Madrid
announcements, more waivers, etc.) that I missed. Again. Not to mention all of the other soccer
news, like the Algarve Cup, Beckhamania in the Far East, and more STFU moments from Sepp Blatter.
Which means it's a mere matter of days until the season starts. I'm not really ready for it either,
although I'm going to pick my season tickets up today.
So in honor of March, of RSL's massive roster overhaul, and the wonder of YouTube, I thought I'd

Anyway, welcome Philly and its 1600-member fan club (Seriously? SERIOUSLY?). I'm not sure why
exactly, but the thought of an away trip to PA sounds really fun, especially if all of the fans
there are as chavvy-looking as that one guy standing next to Don Garber in the photo (MLSnet.
So many RSL-related happenings over the last several days, so little time, right?
* I'm not going to make any lame doctor puns about our new Scottish friend Kenny Deuchar, okay? But
I will point out that he did play for Gretna, and we all know what happens when characters in
English novels go to Gretna.
Mr. Bat-Shit-Crazy himself, Dema Kovalenko, has been traded to RSL, unofficially at this point, and
I'm basically giddy over the whole thing. Seriously.
I love crazy people. And since Atiba Harris was traded off to the Cheetos, we really needed some
crazy on the team.
This almost makes me excited for the new season to start.
