Football's governing body FIFA has a number of systems in place in order to ensure that clubs around the world are rewarded for their role in developing youth talent. In light of the United States' growing stature in world soccer, and the increasing issues surrounding American talent leaving the country to ply their trade abroad, I sat down with Mike Wheeler, lawyer and owner of global sports and entertainment agency MAE Agency to discuss these contingencies and what they mean for the sport in the U.
