U.S. advance to final round of World Cup qualifying with win that’s finally convincing

A third straight win put the handwringing and doomsday warnings to rest (at least, momentarily) and helped the U.S to finish atop their group in the semifinal round of CONCACAF World Cup qualification with a 3-1 win against Guatemala. It was the first time the U.S. won a match in this stage by more than one goal since the opener against Antigua and Barbuda and it finally gave them a performance to be proud of as they head into the final round of qualification.
