In an evening of upsets, Leeds United knocked in-form Everton out of the Capital One League Cup while Wigan claimed an emphatic win at West Ham and 10-men Sunderland overcame Milton Keynes Dons away from home.

At Elland Road, Neil Warnock's Leeds side took an early lead through Aidan White and summer signing Rodolph Austin doubled that advantage in the 69th minute.
