Liverpool vice-captain Jamie Carragher has hailed club teammate and compatriot Steven Gerrard as
England's best player in the tournament "by a long way".
Despite the England midfield's struggles to creating imposing opportunities on the offensive end
against both France and Italy, Gerrard played very well in a box-to-box role en route to resisting
defeat in both those matches.
