As often happens in early season, goals were scarce in the opening weekend of NASL action, but the
fans were not. That was particularly true in Minnesota, Fort Lauderdale and Atlanta. In Fort
Lauderdale, the Strikers defeated FC Edmonton while in Puerto Rico, the Islanders grabbed all three
points against the visiting Tampa Bay Rowdies.
